Mattress for different size couples?

Does anyone know how to get a mattress that suitable for a couple of different sizes? My DH is two-and-a-half times the size of me. When we slept in our old, firm mattress, I rolled into him every night. We bought a fancy new soft pillow top mattress a couple years ago but it seems to be indented where he sleeps now. I get a backache each morning, possibly because we flip the mattress & I end up sleeping in a dent, so I'm looking for another solution. I was thinking of getting a memory foam mattress but the manufacturer said it would also end up with a depression over time. I imagine his side may end up wearing out fast, particularly if we stop flipping the mattress. So now I'm thinking of getting two twin mattresses. I don't know. Does anyone else have this problem - what works for you?

Get a king-sized frame and put two full-size mattresses in it - one for each type of bed you prefer. Either that or get two full/queen-sized frames and get the mattress each one of you want. :yay:

I've always wanted to try out those new puffy NASA material ones. Has anyone tried one of these?

My friend bought one of those tempurpedic king size beds for $2500 :yikes:
I've found five sites on the 'net googling around where you can get the same type of mattress at a different manufacturer/distributor for less than $1K. That makes it a bit more affordable but still a lot of $ if you're going through mattresses every three years.

I've got the king bed frame so I am leaning toward getting two full (or twin?) memory foam mattresses on top. When he wears his side out, I'll only have to replace the one twin/full mattress. I don't like the idea of the space in the middle but I do remember seeing a thingy that you can use to tie the mattresses together & cover the space. Hmmm...

We bought a new king bed about six months ago and my husband thought it was too firm so he bought a memory foam mattress topper ($100 @ BJ's). It's pretty damn comfy. And I spin it and flip it every once in a while and any dents puff back up. It's guaranteed for a thousand years or something.

But wait, there's more...
I'll say it: Tell him to exercise and lose the weight! There are a host of health problems down the road he'll face for being overweight ... and replacing mattresses every 3 years is gonna be VERY expensive (for decent ones, anyway). :ohwell:

My friends have the bed where you can adjust each side of the bed to their own liking with a remote. They absolutely love it. And I'm not help because I can't think of what it's called:biggrin:

I have this very same problem! Have you solved yours yet???

Thank you! I figured it's a fairly common problem and someone has dealt with it before. Unfortunately I have not yet implemented a solution. I slept on the couch last night and have been hunched over so far this morning. Today we're going to switch mattresses and put the old firm one on our bed (personally, I rather enjoy rolling into my DH - he's the one that gets aggrivated). At some point in the next few months I think we'll get two twin/full size mattresses and put them on our king boxspring.

I was on another messageboard talking about this and several said they have the 2 twins on top of a king boxspring. Still use the king mattress pad and sheets. I figure a little shifting is better than waking up and not being able to walk straight for the first hour! I have several friends who have the Select Comfort mattress and if the 2 twins don't work I think I'll do in debt for that!

My friend's parents always had the two twin mattresses on a king boxspring. I always thought it was twisted though. I mean, how do you meet in the middle when there's a space there? There's this twin bed doubler you can get to bridge the gap: hhttp://store.yahoo.com/comfort/playhouses.html but I don't know how good it is....

I happened to catch the sleep number bed (or one just like it) on QVC this weekend when flipping through channels for a pretty good price and only about $60 s/h. Might wanna check their website (www.qvc.com) and see if you can get it online still.
