That lady is taking this too far. I'm sure her son would be proud of her actions. Wish i did not have to work tonight or I'd be there.

staring into the abyss
I thought I'd point out that Sheehan's group has countered that she's not directly protesting the wounded. The group initially claimed to be protesting the conditions that the wounded inside Walter Reed were living in. The counter to THAT is that the protest signs included some of the phrases listed above, and whatever the official reason for the protest to be at Walter Reed, it wasn't supported by the attitudes expressed on the signs. I wanted to find out WTF she was thinking, and I even considered that this might be an urban legend. Although AP and Reuters aren't carrying anything, several independent news agencies have picked up on this (apparently her group's been there off and on since August).

As for my opinion, I think she's an idiot for taking this approach. The short of it is its an anti-war protest taking place outside a hospital. I support her right to protest and speak her mind, but this is completely beyond the pale. In the first place its just the wrong place to be protesting. I doubt that wounded soldiers are an appreciative audience for her message and I'm sure they don't need the stress and aggrivation this brings about. In addition, the families of the soldiers that can visit are already having to go see them in the hospital, they don't need the additonal grief brought by a protest and counter-protest. Finally, this does absolutely nothing to support her cause. Whatever arguments she may have, whatever message she's trying to convey (or says she's trying to convey) is going to get obliterated by the backlash of anger when people hear she's protesting outside Walter Reed.
