OK so my son got suspended from school for a naughty picture he drew in class. Well he is soooo lucky it was for just one day. He is a really good kid never ever got in any trouble until this. I get phone call from teachers telling me how much they enjoy teaching my son. ODD!!! Well, He is 11. My question is what type of stuff should I and /or his father inform him on with the birds and the bees. He is my first born so I am sooooo clueless on this part of raising a child.. I am not ready for this. I was in the principles office in tears..I could not believe my eyes.. I just don't know where he learn this stuff from.

JMO.....At 11 years old he probably learned this stuff in "sex ed class" in school(which I think they teach in 5th grade now)....if he didn't learn it there he's probably got some friends/classmates that have had "the talk" with their parents and at that age they love to share this kind of knowledge

Sit him down and have a talk with him and be straight forward and honest....answer any and all questions that he has and make sure you ask him questions about what he knows so you can straighten out any misconceptions that he has

If all else fails....send him over to Peteys he will straighten him out

I believe he will be starting sex ed after spring break.. I just did not prepared myself for this.. Hubby said he will have a talk with him this weekend over lunch. I guess me being his mother I still see him as my little baby. Not as a kid that is growing up. I tell you I am not ready for this. WHY does it feel so hard to talk to a kid about this!!!! He is growing up on me..

Trust me, the talk with the boy is a WHOLE lot easier then it is with the girl! I just had to do that with my 10 yr. old daughter. :faint: It's best to just sit down and tell them like it is without being too graphic. The questions I got from my daughter were easier then I thought they would be and I was scared to death that she was going to hate me for making her a girl after she found out about that time of the month. But she's actually handling it a whole lot better then I am! It will be ok, you will sail through this and wonder why you ever worried! :huggy:

If he is drawing pictures, he needs information. You might want to hit the library for some helpful books.

:huggy: We mothers beat ourselves up over everything. Take a deep breath. You are going to do great. And you will laugh about this so hard when he is a fine, upstanding man.

True story. In the third grade I told my best friend I wanted to milk Miss Bowers. he told everybody at the lunch table and eventually i ended up in the principals office for it:tantrum: She was one sexy teacher. I can just imagine the principal had a hard time keeping a straight face while punishing me. I do not remember what he said to me.

Hey its not that difficult. You can ask him what he knows or thinks he knows. even at eleven i do not think that is too early to talk about condoms etc. i got the talk when i was eight but  my son is eight and I have not talked with him yet :jameo: dam time flies. I guess I need to ask a few questions :lmao:

My 12yr old kept bugging me to buy him the new Playboy because some wrestling diva is in it. I asked if he knew what Playboy was and he didn't. A few days later he came home and said nevermind mom, I got to see it. A's mom bought it and he brought it to school. :ohwell:

hey we were steal them from our fathers at an even younger age. All the neighborhood boys would meet behind the neighbors wood pile where we kept our stash hid. Did not even know what to do with a porn rag back then :lmao:

:yeahthat: I remember my mom telling my dad he needed to go to the library to get a book....he came home with this really cheesy one. I remember a picture with a boy standing on a diving board having a .....um, stand up time. :roflmao: It was about the unpredictability of it.

But I'd get a book if I had to talk to my kids. Helps put it in kids' language.

I had to have a version of "THE" talk with my 8 year old. Apparently, "God put the baby in mommy's belly" didn't explain enough for him anymore. THAT was awkward. My husband was away, so I couldn't even pawn it off on him.

The school's guidance counsellor helped me get some ideas. It was a GREAT resource. Now, of course, I didn't go into TOOOOO Much detail (he IS only 8 after all) but I gave him the basic concept. His reaction was "EWWWWWW" and has never asked about it again. (Thank God).

Of course, I've always been very open with my son and told him the PROPER names for things (At 4 he whacked his personal parts on something and came running in screaming "MY TESSICLES HURRRRT"). When I was pregnant with our 2nd child, my oldest was 4 and I planned on having him in the delivery room, so I let him watch "Miracle of Life" (post conception!). My 2nd decided to be a preemie, so it didn't happen, but my son knew ALL about birth and had seen the gory details.

All I can say is Good Luck!
