Depends on age, current insurance record (ie- points, accidents, etc..etc..)

Most insurance companies go off the cc's of the bike, with that being said, 1000cc's will cost a bit more than a 600 obviously..

I had a Gixxer 750, my insurance was like 100 bucks a month.. I was 21 at the time, no points or violations on record...I have State Farm...

As for being more than a car, my Ranger(liability) cost me 24 bucks a month, my F150(full coverage) is like 102 bucks a month..

So it all depends I guess...

Should be way less if your talking a Ferrari, way more than a '94 Escort.. Call your insurance company or try Progressive at 800-776-4737.

:yeahthat:

If you take the MSC(advance course) your insurance will go down even more....I pay $304 a year for mine and when I take the advance class later on this summer, I will be paying $167

Harry Stone on Great Mills Rd. carries various bike insurance companies. Progressive, Dairyland, etc.

ok thanx. Another question I have is, If I decide to buy a used bike, what is considered high mileage? How many miles to people usually put on a bike before it is considered worn out?

I don't have any points/accidents on my record....if you do, it might be more expensive

I have also been driving since I was 16(and I won't say how many years that is)

That depends on the bike and year. Generaly, the newer the bike, the longer it will last. Manufacturing processes constantly improve.
What year CBR are you looking at?

After you talk to progressive, call state Farm. State Farm was WAAAAAYYY cheaper than Progressive. Definitely shop around. And when you shop around, make sure that they understand that you will change companies and insure both vehicles. Most insurance companies offer multi vehicle discounts and it's easier to claim a car as primary transportation which also decreases the rate for motorcycle coverage. :yay:

Progressive wanted $986 a year compared to $386 for Dairyland for full coverage on a new liter bike. Dairyland will also give a 10% discount to AMA members, as well as the discount for the MSF course. Even when I added on another 5K for aftermarket part replacement Dairyland was still way lower than Progressive.
