Yesterday me and the boyfriend come home from work to find out they while we were gone the dogs wanted to go outside during the day and decided to try and open the sliding glass door on their own. One or both I guess thought they could accomplish this by pawing at the frame on the side the door handle is on. Luckily it was double paned safety glass because when we get home the inner glass pane is cracked in a million pieces ready to shatter as it was continuing to crack while we were preparing to break it. Luckily the glass didnt break before we got there so the doggies were okay as it could have been alot worse. However we definitely werent planning on having to come home and finish shattering the door and going to buy a whole new door and frame. That is our fun for the night. Doggies have now bought themselves visits to the crates when we are gone :lmao:
Just thought I would share my eventful evening.......... :howdy:

Why on earth would you leave 2 black labs in the house all day?!?! :jameo: They need to be outside. Good thing they didn't break that glass, but it has to be a little funny now. :lmao:

That is why I crate Tuggy (aka Dr. Destructo) when I am not home. He gets bored, and finds things to destroy.

Yeah it is funny now. Before I got Maddox, when I lived in Florida, I used to leave Tobey outside. First it was just in the backyard when I went to class. It was fenced in but then Tobey realized that if he dug out he could run up the street to the high school and everyone would play with him. After being picked up by the pound 4 times because the teachers refused to call the number written on his collar (twice i beat the driver back to the shelter) and over a thousand dollars later (free the first time, 150 to get him back the second, 300 the third and 600 the fourth, I got him one of those kennel things for outside. Not a fan of those either and he ended up ripping a few toe nails out clawing to get out. That is when he was moved indoors and I have just always kept him in since then. Yeah they got into stuff but never like last night. I always felt bad about crating them during the day but no more, especially the little one, Maddox. Hes a little over a year and a complete basketcase, Tobey has luckily grown out of alot of that since then. Either way lesson learned and the new set of doors definitely arent all glass, ha ha.

Don't feel bad at all about crating them during the day. My dog gets crated now that my house is on the market and potential buyers will be in and out. Before that I switched up between crating her and leaving her out. She's a smart dog and will put herself on punishment. If we can't find her we go check the crate and if she's put herself in it we know to look for whatever she got into. She's never crated at night and the deal was, if she behaves herself at night she was allowed to stay out durning the day. If she got into anything she wasn't supposed to than she got crated the following day. Now since she has to be crated even when she's been good I give her a treat every morning when I put her in it. I go for her treat jar and she runs into her crate. :yay:

Good as a puppy can be...He's still learning his way around here....He only has one to roll around with...He's hard on Molly's 13YO body....You'd think they're trying to kill each other but they go right back for more....He is so loveable....I can see why people can't say no to them when they're that age.... :lmao:

:killingme Good as a puppy can be :killingme If it makes you fell better, he's one of the best puppies we had  Trust me if Molly didn't want him to play she'd let him know and it's probably good for Molly (makes her young again) He is a Love Bug. How's your wife with him now that he's home? Did your sister ever get to come over and see him?

Oh ya let me give a litter of 8 plus 3 big ones and see how quickly you say NO

Actually no, he has more expensive taste. He's a stick chewer so we are trying to break that habit as he decided it would be fun to try and eat the solid wood coffee table. :lmao:

Oh been there done that with: the bathroom lanolam (sp?) floor, leather sectional, wooden waterbed, wooden coffee table, spindles going down stairs, many leather heels and belts. I'm sure I could go on..

I went over last Friday to meet him. He didn't want anything to do with me until he found out I had treats in my pocket. I had to spend most of the time with Molly so she wouldn't get mad at me. I think I'm babysitting them this wkend.

Gotta love em! Many shoes and belts, furniture. The most impressive I have to say was when Tobey ate a most of the door trim off the wall. We could barely figure out how he angled himself to accomplish. It was thiner and he had to have been able to only use his front little teeth. He was committed.

He's a little shy at first, but once he warms up watch out. Did they show you the trick he can do (hold his treat on his nose and then flip it up in the air to catch it) Oh yes how we have to baby the first there, I still do that to mine :) Watch out now he's gonna be a love bug to ya...

Ol gunner still thinks he's a lap dog, and a bed dog, and that the couch is his. He's never been destructive though thank gawd. There are only a handfull of instances where he's done something very bad. He's very calm and laid back for a lab, we were lucky.
