I have this idea that I want a battery-operated electric mulching mower. I have about a half acre, level.
Anyone want to talk me out of it?

My Grandfather used to have an electric push mower. I remember mowing the grass and feeling like I was vacuuming because I kept having to gather the cord. :lmao:

:nono: You shouldn't buy that mower, Vrai. Instead, you should purchase our spare John Deere riding mower. It's a real lawnmower.

What if you accidentally run over the cord? :ohwell:
Oh wait, I'm thinking you probably don't mow with it plugged in. :stupid:

Key words - battery operated. No cord. :yay:

I want something I don't have to *deal* with. I hate regular mowers because they don't start without massive muscling, then they want to conk out on you. I am too retarded to have something that needs to be messed with.
It just seemed no-brainer to me to have an electric one that you push a button, then it mulches for you too, so you don't have to fiddle with lawn clippings.

I'm a willowy thing, and even I can manage to use a pull start mower, so that probably wouldn't be an issue, assuming you got a decent one. The only thing I can't (won't) do is sharpen mower blades. That being said, buy whichever one you want, you're the one that'll be using it.

You should hire Boy. He needs a job to feed his paintball habit. No mower, no gas, no fuss. We can sit on the porch drinking beer and watching him.

I considered buying one. I have only about 15 minutes that I need to use the push mower for. I don't think I would try doing a large area though. Very time consuming.

Could he do it once a week or so? I would consider that, but it goofs up my exercise rationale.

Vrai, we bought a "Neuton" electric mower thinking that it would be the end all for grass cutting. No gas, no oil, etc. It wasn't. We have a very small lot and the mower battery wouldn't even last 45 minutes and they aren't cheap. If the grass was too thick, it would slow down then pop the built in circuit breaker. It is a mulching mower and it is very light but it just doesn't cut it (pun intended). It only has a 14 inch cut. They are at www.neutonmower.com if you're interested but I was disappointed with this one. You will have to cut the grass often & only when it is short and you might need 2 batteries depending on your lot size. :flowers:

They make electric start push mowers, gas.. better for the environment than the electirc ones.

Not only is this a "no mess with" you can operate it with one hand, while sitting on your butt, and drinking a beer, and it's a mulcher.

No lawn mower needed, if you get yourself some farm animals. A few horses, goats, sheep, cows.

Riding mower, good idea, but I found I still need a push mower for the tight spots. The one I have has large wheels on the back so it's easy to push and usually starts with one pull even after sitting all winter.

I had one and with a third of an acre it took two hours. Battery drains quick if you have to go through thick grass and the cutting width is only 14-16 inches instead of the 24 - 26 inch of a normal push mower.
The push button start was awesome, though.

That's why they are only 18 inch cuts. Weighs the same as a regular mower, but you get to push it twice as far. Are you sold now? :lmao:

PSST,
If you want a push mower :smack:
I would suggest an electric start self propelled. I have not used a push mower in 14 years until I went Home last week. I got up the first morning and cut my Dads grass.
The rear wheel drive electric start push mower. WOW I wish he had that when I lived there. And my grand mother liked it so much she bought one this weekend:yay:
