Try the farmers market either on Wed or Sat. The Amish always have them for sale...

I assume you want layers but I have some broilers that are ready for the plucking ~ good roasting size if anyone is interested.

But I have some pretty cobb-cobbs (well as pretty as a chicken can be). You sure I can't interest you?

:bawl: My HOA won't let me have chickens.

They have no sense of humor.

:yeahthat: Or if you want to order a specific breed like you mentioned, order them online. I have ordered from McMurray Hatchery (http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/) before, and they are great.

Make sure you buy dumb chickens. Those smart ones can be trouble. I highly recommend watching the movie "Chicken Run" to get an idea of what organized Chickens can accomplish.

Be careful out there. :yay:

Thank you...Great Idea!!! I think we will! My 5 yr old will get a kick out of it, plus it will probably make him think the chickens run amuck at night!

But how do you tell a smart chicken from a dumb one?

Thank you!!! I had been looking online, but was questioning what type of chicken would actually show up seeing that I knew of nobody that had ordered chickens before. Thank you for the reference!

 When people need the already fried type, they refer to it as chicken, not chickens.

"Hey, want some Popeyes chickens for dinner?" Nope...that doesn't sounds right....

 I too have had good luck with McMurry Hatchery in the past. Quick service too. I ordered various incubator things, supplies and hatchings eggs. I'd highly recommend them for anyone looking to get or hatch chickens. (although the hatching is hard because everything has to be PERFECT to replicate nature) - the one chicken you see in my pics is still alive and running around is one I hatched out of an incubator from MurryMcMurry YEARS ago when I was living in LaPlata on a little farmette. :yay:

Yes...and be on the lookout for "Uncle Cracker". A small white chicken...he flew the coop this morning!

PS...don't dodge the cats.
