Presuming that part of my citrix issue is cables, who's got the word on what cables one can use to connect modem to router and router to computer? I have a Cat 5, but is one better than the other (crawling under desk now :buttkick: to see that none are compromised) What is Cat 5e?

I'm pretty sure you need an RJ 45 cable for that

but I'm not 100%

I know they're what I use to link my comp to my router (well what I used before I moved to the technology pit that is Dentsville).

I'm assuming that you don't need a crossover cable.

The cable is CAT5 or CAT5e, the connector is RJ-45.

Thank you much. Love Wiki. So any better to have Cat 5 e? Should I get the solid or stick with the stranded (will solid make a difference?)

Thanks again

Cat 5E (catagory 5 enhanced) is same as Category 5, except that it is made to somewhat more stringent standards. The Cat 5E standard is now officially part of the 568A standard.

Category 5E is recommended for all new installations, and was designed for transmission speeds of up to 1 gigabit per second (Gigabit Ethernet).
