My boss has a goat that he wants to give away. Female name Nero who is about 3-4 years old. Thinks its a dog. Shes very friendly. She has been a pet since they got her as a baby. Unfortunatly his daughter has grown and lost interest. Anybody want a goat? Let me know. She is white and big.

She roams their backyard freely now, sometimes they tie her up and she has a shelter to go under. Mostly she hangs on the front porch.

I thought that you need to have at least 2 acres to have livestock? I don't think goat is classified as a pet.

People usually didn't notice my sheep in the Jeep (heh, a rhyme) because of the tinted windows, but once I had a chicken in my Bonneville. She was sitting on the back 'dash' (don't know what you call the area in front of the back window). People got a kick out of that!!

You don't know me very well.
At Webelos Weekend at the beginning of June, a Troop from LP put on a camp cooking demo. They were OVER THE TOP! Cooked turkeys around an improvised verticle fire "pit". Cooked pork loin DIRECTLY on the coals of a fire (it was DEELISH!). They cooked an entire pig (OK, it wass a baby, but still, it was an entire pig) over a campfire. OH MY GAWD! Them boys could COOK!

Sounds like a pygmy goat. The pure breds are really small like that - about the size of a medium to large dog. In this area - I've learned that the bigger one's generally have Nubean (sp?) mixed in. If I were you I'd give it to the guy that posted eariler that has just one goat and horses. Goats tend to be flock animals like sheep. They don't like to be alone and that's why that guy that posted has one that is bonding with the horses I'd imagine. Him getting a second one would prevent this one from being alone and help his that is alone and with horses. Sounds like a perfect fit  Has this one been debudded? You might want to consider things like this on where you place the darling girl. In the meantime I'll ask River Rat, but I have a strong feeling her answer is "absolutely not" and look at me as if I've grown a third eye. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Good luck!

I think it sounds like a larger breed. Pygmy goats and Nigerian dwarfs are usually way smaller than that. If she's pure white it sounds like Saanen or possibly a boer cross or some other cross.

Your purebred pygmy comes up to your thigh? Her head or her shoulders? Either way, that is tall. :eyebrow: Are you a little person? They are supposed to be very small. Does are supposed to be 22" or shorter at the withers, and males should be 23" or less at shoulders. Check here (http://www.npga-pygmy.com/resources/conformation/NPGABreedStandard.pdf). That's from the National Pygmy Goat Associatio (http://www.npga-pygmy.com/default.asp)n website.
