View Full Version : Dear Ignorant Black Friday Shopper,

Here are a few tips for you to consider before you join in the frenzied rush to purchase your desperately-needed holiday items:
Control your temper and attitude. People will already be hurried and worked-up enough that we do not need angry people in the mix. Getting mad and/or nasty with other shoppers or store employees will not help anything, and will in fact only compound itself and make everyone in the general vicinity miserable. Everyone else wants to get in and out as smoothly as you do.
Don't be a slob. I have never understood why shoppers feel it is okay to make a mess of a store. Just because it's not their property? Imagine a visitor to your home feeling the same way. Much of this problem can be alleviated by not picking up crap you don't plan to buy, carrying it halfway across the store, and putting the crap in a new, unrelated spot. Many, many, many hours are spent cleaning up this stuff, when that time could be spent on more useful ventures... like helping you.
Leave the kids at home. This is an extension of both points 1 and 2. Kids can be generally aggravating and can be walking wrecking machines, which does not help anything on one of the busiest shopping days of the year. Why not work with a friend or neighbor who can watch the kids while you, in turn, could help them by knocking out some of their shopping? Fewer people on the roads and in the stores... everybody wins.
Inventories are not infinite. So when a store runs out of an item - particularly a hot ticket item - try to restrain your anger. Stores do the best they can do stock up on everything, but there is only so much they can do; space is limited and inventory supply chains do not function flawlessly. This is especially true if you go into the store at 11a, and you know the store has been open since 5 or 6a... they may very well already be sold out!
Employees are there to assist you... not kiss your ass. Employees of a given store are there to help you find your way or find an item, but not to play your little servant or personal shopper. If they act or move abruptly, it's probably not because they're upset, but because they have a whole list of other people or things to which they must tend... and they are all high-priority.
Remember: Everyone else wants to get in and out as smoothly as you do. You know it will be busy, so don't be surprised at the crowds and lines. Take a few calming breaths and maybe try to be courteous to others... and maybe they will return the thought, and we can all get through this in one piece.
Thank you for your cooperation. :howdy:
Here are a few tips for you to consider before you join in the frenzied rush to purchase your desperately-needed holiday items:
Control your temper and attitude. It's my world. Get out of the way. If you bow nicely and are curtieous you may follow in my wake.
Don't be a slob. That's what they hire the demi-tards for... to clean-up. Do you want to take away their jobs?
Leave the kids at home. First acceptable entry.... Teach them manners. Children should be beaten and not heard.
Inventories are not infinite. I dont' get angry, I head to the register and beat one out of the possesion of some ##### who wasn't supposed to get one.
Employees are there to clean up after you: See bullet #2. :fixed:
Remember: Everyone else wants to get in and out as smoothly as you do. That's why I beat, shove and kick the rude asses out of my way. So those good, curteous, patient people behind me wont' have to deal with the #######'s either.
Thank you for your cooperation. :howdy:
You're welcome.

I'm too much a "people" person.A what "people" person? Insult people? Step on people? Annoy people?
Exactly the type of attitudes I was hoping people could suppress for one day. But I guess people will regress to their base instincts when put in a life-or-death situation... like picking up one of those super-low-priced big screens.
You have fun with that; I just hope many others do not get in your way, for their sake.
You must work retail. Happy Thanksgiving - hope your day runs smoothly tomorrow!I got red from someone feeling forced to follow my "rules". I didn't realize I had chained anyone down to read what I wrote, or that I was restricting their free will to act however they want.
I simply don't see how being that aggressive and disrespectful is productive for anyone - shopper or employee. Particularly at a time of year which is supposed to be about joy and happiness, and the gift-giving is supposed to rank far down the list.

I got the paper Tuesday, surveyed all of the so called deals and then went to Walmart on my way home yesterday and picked up the three big items my kids wanted. Now tomorrow I can get up as usual and go to work and won't have to worry about fighting over this or that, long lines and ill tempered people. I might of been able to save 30 bucks by waiting til Friday, but I still have my sanity (well maybe):lmao:

I'll be at work as well. I mentioned before I went up to Potomac Mills a week ago and bought my stuff. They have great outlets up there and I love the Lego store & the buy 3 toys get one free at Kay-Bee toys. They have stuff for older kids and adults too. I know it's a couple of hours away but at least I am done shopping now and saved quite a bit even taking into account gas prices!

I still dont get the getting up early thing for black friday - why cant the stores just start it at a normal hour???? Why does it have to be 4 or 5 am???? Why cant the sales be the same at 10????? Why do people have to run into the stores and shove people away, sometimes knocking them to the ground and getting stomped on? I just dont get this whole thing????

A friend will be at Best Buy at 12:30 a.m. to wait until 3:00 a.m. to hopefully be handed a ticket to purchase something at an AWESOME price. Doors open at 5:00 a.m.
Aps, I wouldn't call that greed. If she gets the ticket, she saves $850.00. It's called smart shopping. I wouldn't do it. It's not worth $850 to me to stand outide for 4.5 hours to "maybe" get what I came for and the savings.

I won't go out. I stocked up on Thanksgiving Turkey so I have food to eat. I live in Waldorf, right off the bypass, and can already tell looking at Hamilton how bad the roads are here. I plan to stay in the nice warm house all day watching "I Love Lucy" reruns on TV Land.

Oh me oh my -
At 4am I was standing out in front of Best Buy in Waldorf - not as a shopper, but helping selling doughnuts for a local Boy Scout Troop... Their was 2 State Police cars there for "crowd control"...
At 5 am, the doors open and the line wrapped almost COMPLETELY around the building. People standing in the parking lot just tried to walk to the front of the line to get in the store... that is what the police were there for! I was totally amazed at the ignorance of these people... parents were sending their kids up to get in the store (early aged teenagers) and we just stood in TOTAL amazement!
I witnessed 5 different sets of people get rejected from the line and get back into their vehicles - 3 of these vehicles had DC tags, all 5 vehicles pulled away and left. Others who did not get in their cars stood in the parking lot and eventually waited for the line to diminish and walk in... I counted at least 25 people doing this.
A cop friend stopped by and said all he did was break up fights in the lines, people got kicked out of the property at both Best Buy, Circuit City, Kohls and other stores around the mall... he said Toys-R-Us was the only tame place.

Wow! One of our customers told me this morning they had heard about 8 fights happening over Wiis already today! Sounds like it might have been true!
