View Full Version : Arrests at WalMart

Before I moved into this area it was simple to avoid WalMart, but not as much anymore. There selection on a lot of things is great, and while the price isn't always the best the fact I can shop there at night and avoid the crowds helps. Now the few times I have gone during the afternoon or on the way home from work I always see some hillbilly getting thrown in the back of a cop car. I don't get it, why are people so dumb?

Having worked in Loss Prevention, I have heard it all. The ones that always got me were the ones who tried to pay us once we detained them. We had a pregnant woman push a cart out with a bin that she had stuffed with over $250 worth of clothes. She had over $300 in cash on her and tried to pay us.

Most shoplifters don't see how obvious their behavior really is. Especially to people who know what they are looking for. One thing I learned, (clarification: all kinds of people) :razz:steal. I watched a Grandma-type who had parked her minivan in a handicapped space come in the store, rip the tags off a shirt and stuff it in her purse.

We had a lady at Safeway fill her stroller with beef and chicken from the meat case... the "baby" she was taking to the grocery store was a ham...

We went to Shoppers on Sunday and about 75% of the stuff we bought was cheaper at Shoppers. We had 1/2 hour to kill while getting a prescription filled so we wasted time in the grocery section and got a few things. I've seen 2% milk for $4.45 at WalMart some days.

I don't think coming in now would give a good representation because of all the construction.

Stop on by in late April. I think the re-grand opening is Saturday April 26th.

Both.

Total remodel. They're taking out some sections of the store and adding to others. Less floral and HBC and more dairy, frozen, meat, produce, deli, and international.

International will have some cooler and freezer products available in the coming weeks. That should be interesting to see what comes in.

I used to hate Shoppers. Back then we had to pay 2 cents for each grocery bag and had to bag the stuff ourselves.....I was like wtf kind of grocery store is this?? I had to bag all the food for my mom and she'd be screaming at me because I just threw everything into the bags without sorting them.....I was only 9 or 10.

I want Buddy Lee to send me a map of the new layout. I walked in the other day, looked around for about a minute, and walked out. WTF do grocery stores feel the need to re-arrange every few years?

I learned about this a few years ago: Retail stores periodically re-arrange where items are displayed, because many shoppers are attuned to where those items are normally found. If you're shopping for one or two particular items, you know where to look for them - which aisle, etc., and you'll go get them, check out and leave.

However, if you have to look in other aisles for those same items, something else along that aisle just might catch your eye, and you might be tempted to purchase an item you really had no intention of buying!

Society rewards stupidity. The person caught stealing will be fed clothed and housed. If store security Nazis just took them out back and administered an azz whooping they wouldn't come back.
I worked for Sears in Atlanta and one day a guy was caught walking out with a couple of canoe paddles. When they checked his car there was a stolen canoe on the roof

Everything is in place now. There will only be minor changes now.

Last Fri, a guy came up to the parts counter where I work, and requested his money back for an item he said he purchased "4 or 5 days ago". He said he had lost his receipt in the store somewhere, upon returning that Fri. morning as well.

I searched the 7 aisles we have in our store, and could not find his receipt.

Curious, I then checked the computer for that particular item, and found it had not been sold since 12/22/07.

Furthermore, storestock numbers indicated there were 3 of those particular items on hand - 2 on the shelf - and the one he was "trying to return"!

Sometimes that happens in addition to the arrest, if the perp tries to run away from the store security. :yay:

:lmao: Gotta give him credit for trying. To quote a friend, "If you're going to risk getting caught stealing, don't get caught stealing the ground chuck. At least grab the filet mignon."

That's what I didn't understand. The canoe was several hundred dollras and the paddles were about $10 each. Should have quit while he was a head.

That is exactly it Penn and it works. We have thousands of new items in the store now and more coming in.

I remember when our family had an antique shop in Leonardtown. We'd have a particular piece of furniture sit in one spot for a year. When we decided to move it five feet it would sell the next day.:lmao: This happened an innumerable amount of times.

Not sure about maps but I'll bring it up to the managers. Good idea.

I know they have papers throughout the store, which show what items are where.

Example:

Aisle 6
Bread
Cereal
Fruit snacks

 some friends from back in the day, would hit a grocery store on Saturday morning and grab a case of Michelob. They'd walk up front and come up behind a clerk and tell a story about somebody giving them the case of beer (birthday, funeral, wedding. etc) and could they please trade it in for a case of Bud.
Clerk says no and they walk out with the Michelob but most times they'd say Np problem just bring it back through the line so I can give you the price difference in cash :faint:

I had heard about desparate/sneaky/low down types, who will try to pull that sort of ruse in a retail store, but I hadn't had the "luck" of someone trying to pull that sort of wool over my eyes before.

The item, a pipe flaring tool, was priced at $20.00, and I guess he needed the dough to buy some more beer or......?

Delmonico or Rib Eye ..... cut 1 1/2 to 2 inches

Delmonico steak (alternately steak Delmonico) refers to both a cut of beef and a presentation of steak dinner prepared from it, made world-famous by Delmonico's Restaurant in New York City during the mid 1800s[1].

There is controversy as to exactly which cut of steak was originally used by Delmonico's Restaurant[2]. There are at least eight different cuts which are claimed to be the original for the Delmonico Steak[1]. According to some sources, the original Delmonico steak was a boneless top sirloin, almost two inches thick with delicate marbling and cooked rare to well done (depending on the request of the diner)[1].

Delmonico's steak may now, in the 21st century, refer to other cuts, prepared differently in different parts of the USA. This wider variety of beef cuts may be broiled, fried, or grilled. Some of the steak cuts now commonly referred to as Delmonico steak include:

bone-in top loin steak
(a triangular-shaped, short loin cut, some suggesting the first cut of the top loin next to the rib end) also known as a club steak, country club steak, shell steak, and strip loin steak;
A boneless rib-eye steak
A Delmonico cut rib-eye consists of two heart cuts of ribeye tied together with butcher's twine. It resembles a filet mignon in appearance, but because of the more marbled nature of a ribeye, is more moist. The modern rarity of the Delmonico cut of rib-eye may be due to fact that it renders the remaining pieces of ribeye unsaleable as anything but stewmeat, and the profit to be made from a pair of choice ribeyes is almost always more than that of a single Delmonico. A few sources describe the Delmonico cut of rib-eye differently as a bone-in cut.
A boneless top loin strip steak
(also known as a New York strip steak, Kansas City steak, strip loin, ambassador, boneless club, hotel or veiny steak)

In addition to the steak, the original meal also included a potato dish, known as Delmonico's potatoes, prepared by making a baked mashed potatoes-like dish topped with grated cheese and buttered breadcrumbs. The dish was then baked until golden brown and served steaming.
