Marrying people is part of their job. Just call your local parish or the church you want to get married in and make an appointment to talk the priest. Simple.

What part of SoMd? There are some good ones around the Lexington Park area, and some with smaller churches that may not be booked up. For a good priest, you'll probably need a letter, though, telling him you are, indeed, practicing.

when i went to St. Mary's catholic school we had two priests and about a half dozen nuns. I think the priest that does the services there is a visiting priest, and i believe there aren't any nuns there anymore.

Father Karl at St. Georges Catholic Church is great and Father O'Connell at St. Michaels in ridge is also good.

It's your parish priest's job to find a replacement priest if you are being married in your parish. Maybe this guy is available...

True.. but if the preist at the church they go to already has something going on, maybe the church is tied up as well? so if they were going somewhere else, they could get the JOP.. which is what I did.. my priest was busy so we ended up getting a JOP..

But when a Bob molests a little boy, he doesn't have ten levels of upper management trying to cover it up for him. The molestation (being unforgivable by itself) wasn't the worst part.

If I was affiliated with ANY organization that was that crooked and dirty, I'd burn my membership card and ask for my last ten years of dues be refunded.

By remaining a member in such a club, I would take it as a tacit approval of everything that was done. Especially since your "dues" money was being used to defend and support the guilty parties.

You still haven't named ONE person, one bishop, one cardinal, ANYBODY that was responsible for the cover up in this GREAT establishment famous for it's great works.. that has taken responsibility, been arrested, or come forward and pointed out everyone involved.


The cover up continues, it's just they hope everyone will forget about it and move on.

We aren't talking a person, we aren't talking an individual, you are talking about an enitre organization that had to be complicit in these crimes, but because it was a church (accepted church, not one of the cults) nobody else went to jail. Paid off the victims families, paid for the legal defense of the guilty parties, (with everyone else's money, even the victims) and life goes on..

If you are having an outdoor wedding, I don't think a priest can officiate. Catholic weddings, I think, must take place in the church, in front of the Blessed Sacrament.
If you are a practicing Catholic, why would you consider a JOP? Your marriage would not be valid as a Catholic.

Oh dear Lord, I'm sorry you're getting so much grief just asking a question! My answer would be to shop around various Catholic churches in your area. I've always gone to St. Ignatius Chapel Point and was married there but the wonderful priest, Fr. Sal, has moved on-otherwise I'd recommend him! Find a priest whos message you can actually listen and relate to. It doesn't mean you have to switch churches forever, but you have to listen to the priest before using him...you'd hate to glaze over during the entire ceremony. Good Luck!

yes ,as you will see the Pope will say Mass outside often.My Mother has had a Mass for my Dad in our backyard with friends .I've seen Mass performed on the rear end of a pick up truck on a mountain for kids on campouts.
