"As everybody is aware, I don't have a retirement, and I'm requesting that you look at this favorably for me," Bowles told the commissioners in a meeting on April 4, 2007. After she spoke, Fink said he saw no reason that Bowles shouldn't receive a county retirement salary, which could total as much as $75,120 per year after she leaves county government.

Susie and her husband (who is a CPA) own several rental properties in Charles County.

I think the deal is she was double dipping, wanting the state pension AND one from ChuckCo.

Sorry, I know my comment was :offtopic: and had nothing to do with her retirement. I just thought I'd throw it out there for whatever reason.

I was just wondering why government officials get pensions that are higher than most people's pay.

Who knew the Registrar of Wills made $94K?
Add social security to the $73K pension and it will be like she never retired.

She lied to the Commissioners, Fink knew she lied, and Cooper has no comment. No one is going to be disciplined.
Corruption at its best!
You're a fine steward for public monies, Mr. Cooper. :sarcasm:

That is precisely my observation on this one County officials declined to comment on whether anyone will be disciplined in connection with the matter.
The entire board of commissioners needs to be shown the door. They're the same thieves who bought that stupid ice rink and built that baseball field on my taxes. THEN they say they need to increase the valuation of my home to pay the bills! WE need more Republican voters in Chuck Co.

This is what the voters elected. Maybe next time they'll actually investigate the candidates instead of pulling levers for a party versus an individual.
Cooper's reputation as being a french fry short of a happy meal wasn't earned overnight. I want to meet the driver of his short bus and wonder how much of a pension that person is earning.

...not just limited to local elections, right?

aye!
And to top it off now Cooper wants a full ethics investigation! Good.
And who is going to investigate the Commissioners for making such a bone-head decision to give away taxpayer money to a meathead? Don't they do their homework either?
There are times I really hate the knuckleheads who elect Clowns like Cooper and Patterson.

It's just politics today. Elect them and they will screw you. After they are in they don't give a hoot except for what money and benefits they can earn.
