I used to ride horses years ago and would love to find a place to ride. Does anyone know where someone who doesn't have horses can go to ride for a few hours? I'm not looking for lessons, just a leisure ride...maybe trails or open pastures...preferably in St. Mary's county.

Go Look in the "Horses" section in the Pets and Animals Forum on this site.

When I was younger, I rode dressage at Bobby Lindsley's farm in the Compton/Leonardtown area and then at Fairweather Farm on Keech Road in Charles County.

That seems to be the predominant riding in this area....I have only been in a dressage saddle once!

Holly Point (240-538-5106) is listed as a rental stable in the latest Equiery. I thought they were a lesson and boarding barn but maybe they're branching out.

Isn't AMIT still there? Call over and see if there's something you can ride. Sometimes people are looking for someone to ride when they don't have the time. It's worth a call. Otherwise the only ride-by-the-hour place I know of is in Clinton and is western only. I don't think any rental places do english, you'll probably be more comfortable western if it's been along time anyway.
