Being a resident, it may be hard for some to understand why people would want to vacation here, but there are actually many attractive places, not to mention historic places to visit here. Your thoughts....

The less time and money I spend in the "Free State" the better I like it.
The climate is about the best in the mid-Atlantic, the people that live here are wonderful but the politicians have "improved" things to the point I just want to get the hell away from here.

Because of the above - plus it is cheaper to vacation this area and drive into DC to visit the monuments and museums than it would be to stay in DC directly.

Very true....just depends on ones taste (mostly financial situation) where one would chose to stay. I can't see taking a vacation here because I live here, but people who live at the beach dont get why so many flock there in the summer.

See them all now and then if you move you don't have to come back.

Aint that the truth!

I have been here my entire life... have traveled all over the US and Europe and for some un-Godly reason I still want to be here.

I know in time I will probably not be able to afford the area with the way it is going unless I get the house paid off before retirement! Even then with taxes, and as APS put it "improvements" which jerks up the area, just does not sit well with me and makes me look toward the future...

Define: Vacation

My definition is getting out of the house for a week and enjoying a place I have either never been or rarely go.

Yes, there are many nice locations around here....but if you just come back to your house every nite...then its a string of day trips...and you still have to "deal" with being in your own house...whether it is concerning yourself with family life, neighbours, or chores.

And there is no way I would spend $600 to stay at a hotel when my house is so close by. That would piss me off to spend that money.

I wasn't speaking of actual residents vacationing here. I also define a vacation as a week-long getaway. I was just speaking of non-residents finding stuff to do around here.

I'd stay away from beaches that may have seals lurking nearby if I were you.

If I were a non-resident, I can't imagine traveling to Waldorf for a vacation. Are you talking for a week in Waldorf? Is there anything to do for a week in SOMD? Well, I live here... that is the difference. Others might think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. :lmao:

Actually I think Southern MD would be pretty far down on my list. Other parts of MD a bit higher. Assateague, Baltimore (Ft McHenry) and the harbor.

There's not much to see in Charles County. :( Just a bunch or roads under constructions and new apartments going up.
