The rules and polices are set by senior members of NObama staff who work directly for him on how he wants himself portrayed to the American public during his smoke and mirrors campaign. I was more amused by the comments beneath that blamed the whole incident on small-minded rednecks, righties, uneducated .. you know how it goes.

And it's wrong and stupid for two very clear reasons - one is, you don't react to some imagined reaction that hasn't happened yet and at the same time paint someone as a racist for something they haven't even done - because (in a classic act of stereotyping, something the party of tolerance doesn't DO) they're *gonna* do it.

But the other is even stronger. If you believe in something, you need to have the balls to stand on it, even if it does bring criticism your way. Fact is, if Obama has any courage to stand on what he believes, he should be willing to stand openly next to someone with a hijab. If someone's gonna lambaste you for standing next to a gay man, a black man, a Muslim or whatever - you don't hide from it, you confront it. That's called character. Hiding from it - well it's called cowardice and a lack of character, no matter what kind of insults you're hoping to avoid.

i agree with this. He's been running his campaign like this all along....but what he says and does still gets over analyzed to bits like the fist pump for example.
