Ok, I was just listening to her on the news. Yes, she is impressive. However, it's her husband's background that has to be a big reason why she got picked.
He's a commercial fisherman in Alaska. And a member of the Steel Worker's Union. An average Joe, and a direct counter to McCain's "I don't know how many houses I have".

Though I would like to see a woman in the White House, I have no respect for a woman who leaves her young children and a special needs child at home or with Nannies for this type of high powered, stessful position. I think she needs to care for her family and then come back to this when they are older and everyone is better prepared.
Her youngest is 4 months old - do you want a hormonal, sleep deprived woman running this country?

I think it's awesome a woman was selected for VP. However, even though its the reason to balance out the "minority" favortism, hopefully she has the intelligence to make a good VP and not just another pretty face.

Good point!! I think it's great that a woman was selected, but yes, I have to agree w/you that this may not be the best time to be running for VP when you have young children still at home. Disregarding the sleep deprivation and irritability, just the fact that she has children that need tending and she needs to be a Mom first. Those were the choices she made...5 times.

She had time for politics, PTA, and her children before... seems to me she would be able to work it out.

My own daughter works for a living and leaves her kids at day care.
Hell: Most women today are working mothers.
Every working mother should be voting for her.
Saying she cant care for her kids and be VP is going against everything women have been trying to do for the last ten years or so, and you can bet that when she leaves this handicapped child in someones care it will be the best money can provide.

First off - I wanted Hillary, voted for Hillary - her family is raised, she is ready for the challenge. Now I'm voting Obama. Palin needs to step back and care for her young family - VP of the USA will all but consume her entire life. It's unfair to the kids - once they are a bit older and can care more for themselves -then let her come back and go for it.
JMHO.
Specials needs children - hers has down syndrome - needs the entire family involved - the kid is 4 months old - and needs it's mom.
I have a special needs kid - they need more time from the parents.

So now I get it. Your real problem is she's Republican. That explains the veiled concern. It's not the mommy thing, it's the GOP thing. You could have said that in the first place. Hillary took care of her special needs child, Bill. Or maybe she didn't take care of his special needs.

From what I see of my friends and family who has a mother working fulltime outside of the home, is that the kids ages 12 and under, miss out and are don't get everything that is needed. I feel a mother needs to choose to raise her family and then once they are a bit older can then work outside of the home. Having children is a choice (don't give me any excuses), if you want one then you should parent fulltime. If you want to parent part-time - get a puppy. If you want it all, then get it all before you have kids.
Can it be done - absolutely - I had my career, save $ and bought a home, got married and then chose to have kids. It's full time to me. Kids are too important to be placed in someone elses hands to raise.

McCain's VP choice is a joke. He only spoke to her once prior to calling her this week, he is just going by her reputation and what's on paper. She doesn't even know what a Vice President does (see below link). He is only trying to sway the votes of women who were supporting Clinton. This tactic to gain votes will backfire because he is testing the intelligence of women voters. Just because you have a woman running mate, doesn't mean that women will vote for you.

Obama has a wife, Michelle, who has left her career to care for the children while he steps into the Presidency.
Negative!!
Since Barack began his campaign in early 2007, Michelle has met thousands of Americans, hearing their concerns and hopes for the future. As someone who knows the challenge of balancing work and family, Michelle has held roundtables with working women to hear about their struggle to do it all, particularly in a failing economy. In these discussions, Michelle heard the unique stories of military spouses, who work hard to keep their families together while their loved ones are away.
"We held a roundtable for military spouses at Fort Bragg," Michelle says. "It felt like the first time that many of these women had even been asked how they were doing. The tears and the stories went on and on. So we had another roundtable, and then another one."
If Barack is honored with the privilege of serving the United States as president, Michelle looks forward to continuing her work on the issues close to her heart-supporting military families, helping working women balance work and family, and encouraging national service.
"My first priority will always be to make sure that our girls are healthy and grounded," she says. "Then I want to help other families get the support they need, not just to survive, but to thrive.

Don't kid yourself. Studies show that since the mother started to work outside of the home, that kids got in more trouble, pregnancy/drug rates went up and self esteem to an all time low. First of all, that's not my quote that you posted. Do it again and you will be reported.
Second, her reputation isn't really all that. OK she sold a plane that was used by the last govenor. Whoopee!! She deserves a cookie for that one. Alaska has always had problems with corruption, remember what is primarly out there...OIL!! Money everywhere. Her political experience does not extend out of Alaska's borders, does that make her qualified? A good leader surround themselves with experienced and intelligent advisors. Look at the campaign so far with McCain's pointless commercials. I guess I know who he surrounds himself with, the same idiots who been around for the last 8 years.
By the way, your wife / girlfriend / boyfriend is your sibling.
I have no problem with women in politics - but Hillary raised her family, Bill has a sweet young fling somewhere, and she is free to tackle the challenges.
Palin - well, I don't think she's ready. Maybe in 4 or 8 years, but not right now.
When was Hillary ever a stay at home Mom?

Most powerhouse women thru history thrive on being able to multi task. Personally I love the VP pick that McCain chose. I love it because she is fresh and new....and God help us we need to get rid of the old in Washington politics.
Hillary and Bill have their hands in alot of political pockets.............not to mention I worked on the hill when Hillary and Bill were in office. Trust me the rumors about them and especially her were not nice.

I hate to agree with some of these idiots but remeber, these people are rich. How many rich people take care of their kids? Not many. Eventhough if the so called politician's wife stays at home, she / he is always into something else. The nanny takes care of them.
Kids these days get into trouble because the people who they claim as parents do not care about what they are doing. Some of them let their kids apeak to them any kind of way, kids have no respect for anyone or their property and themselves.

Though I would like to see a woman in the White House, I have no respect for a woman who leaves her young children and a special needs child at home or with Nannies for this type of high powered, stessful position. I think she needs to care for her family and then come back to this when they are older and everyone is better prepared.

Actually I was originally going to vote McCain - but he's much too old and too old boys club. Then I voted Hillary. I absolutely think a woman can run things. I just think that right now Palin has too much to deal with at home.
As for Obama - I was at first concerned because he is a minority - but now I am confident he will do whats right and truth be told, most presidents follow congress - so it'll be fine.

Oh in case you didn't and obviously you don't, if it wasn't for a Republican president, slavery would not have been abolished in the 1860's. If it were not for a Republican congress there would have been no civil rights act of 1964.

Freak out - go ahead - it's MY opinion. I'm not Judging you.
And these MORONS wonder why the world is so screwed up!!! I'm ALL ABOUT WOMEN'S LIB. When you have 4 kids at home, and apparently 1 who is about to have a baby, there is some guidance missing in this scenario. They don't get it!!! I understand completely about sitters and nannies and daycare but that is for the "average" person. These people don't need to be a two income family. Hubby can bring home the bacon while she stays home and takes care of the kids. I don't go for June Cleaver, but I also think that since she decided to produce these children, it's their responsibility to see that they have the parental guidance needed. I think it's great she was selected but now is probably not the time. As for Obama, he's a man, he doesn't need to be staying home. I'm not for men sitting on their ass all day at home, regardless of whether the woman works or not.

Yes, there is nothing you can do, however, if mothers and fathers taught their children about birth control and safe sex, perhaps this would not be a problem. Too many babies born to unwed mothers and I believe that girls should be married, unless you are filthy rich, educated and can support a baby on your own through adoption or something of that nature. Life is too hard as it is, why make it that much more difficult. It's not fair to the kid. Teens don't think about the consequences and it's sad. Young girls, young guys, and it all can be avoided!!!

It isn't crap. It's what I believe. I would fully support a woman who either was childfree or had already raised her family. A woman with a young family, needs a more attentive mother, either home with them or at least home each night.

If I were single and childless, I might have the time - but right now my hands are full - I'm keeping my hubby pussywhipped. Even when you're married you still have to keep them in line. :lmao:Oh darn. I thought a woman was gonna set me straight. :ohwell:

I believe Obammy should stay home and raise his two little daughters. Hell, Michelle should stay home and raise their two little daughters.

In case you aren't aware, she does have a husband and he can help with the child rearing. Isn't that what couples are doing these days? Sharing responsibilities? Did you ever see the movie Mr. Mom? I think it's insulting to her husband to assume he won't help. Most fathers love their kids, too. :boxing:

Exactly! I think what a lot of people fail to realize is that there are many types of family structures and not every type is good or even works for others.
There is no one perfect standard defintion of a family!
Gosh you would think the Democrats would be all over that ideal. I am very surprised at how many are so critical of that when it comes down to it.

So, what you are saying is women with young children should not be given an opportunity to advance. You sound like a sexist male.

Sure, you could argue that, but what are the chances? Lets be real!!! That would be denial!!!
You tell me, with proof.
I'm not denying anything. I am not assuming anything.

Don't they eat cheese doodles and watch Jerry Springer, too? Just kidding. I tease my wife about that but when it comes down to it, I wouldn't trade places with her. My job is much easier.
