When you have seven homes, that's a lot of garages to fill. After the fuss over the number of residences owned by the two presidential nominees, NEWSWEEK looked into the candidates' cars. And based on public vehicle-registration records, here's the score. John and Cindy McCain: 13. Barack and Michelle Obama: one.

One vehicle in the McCain fleet has caused a small flap. United Auto Workers president Ron Gettelfinger, an Obama backer, accused McCain this month of "flip-flopping" on who bought daughter Meghan's foreign-made Toyota Prius. McCain said last year that he bought it, but then told a Detroit TV station on Sept. 7 that Meghan "bought it, I believe, herself." (The McCain campaign did not respond to multiple requests for comment.)

Obama's lone vehicle also is a green machine, a 2008 Ford Escape hybrid. He bought it last year to replace the family's Chrysler 300C, a Hemi-powered sedan. Obama ditched the 300C, once 50 Cent's preferred ride, after taking heat for driving a guzzler while haranguing Detroit about building more fuel-efficient cars.

This is quite a shocker.

If I was a multi-millionaire I would own at least a dozen cars. I'm betting that these UAW execs own multiple cars.

This shows that Obammy has very little in common with the common man.

Big friggin Deal the man has 13 cars and most of those are his wife's. He has one raggedy assed Cadillac. Honda's and some VW's are American made by the way.

Obama has a Hybrid from Ford big deal there too since the Hybrid gets 31 MPG on the highway and the regular Escape gets 28 a big savings of 3 MPG highway . I wonder how long it takes at 3 mpg to get back the extra cost. Add to that the cost to replace a Hybrid battery, No Thanks.

Back when I was a kid, I thought the American dream was work hard and you can become prosperous ... I guess the american dream is now to be a socail activist/agitator.

I wonder if socialism has ever been tried before ... hmmmm ...

Wow, this is earth shattering, i am a dumb a $$ and only own 1 house but own 4 cars and a mc and i am sure compared to his are p.o.s.'s . As far as the carbon footprint i would love to see how McCain can drive all 13 cars at once that is quite a trick. So according to this logic we should vote for Obama because he drives a Ford Escape hybrid. Had a friend that owned a gas only Ford Escape and he told me it was the biggest peiece of P.O.S. car he had ever owned.....

Hey socialism is alive and well. We just signed up to give wall street 1 trillion of our tax payer dollars that we'll have to borrow from some Red Chinese bankers, and then our grandchildren can work for the red chinese paying back the money we borrowed....

One person earning a couple of billion dollars a year for managing an HMO isn't the American dream, it's just outright perverted...

I guess when it comes down to what will effect me and my family....it doesn't matter how may cars or houses they own. Neither are like me so that doesn't matter either. Nice try Forcedstool. You have proven once again how stupid you really are.

Oh, I'm just curious. What does Obama own and does it have shiney chrome spinners on it?

In the view of the socialists you both should give your cars to the government to let them distribute the fruits of your labor. In that case you'd both be taking crappy public transportation to the government grocery store, paying triple the market prices and have to walk back home as the public transportation broke down.

The cars would be given to those who can't afford transportation and use Freedom cards to buy steak for their dogs.
