Wow...

Lots of cars but damn, traffic MOVES. I don't see what all the #####ing is about.

65? That's it? Minimum is 75, my friend. As you get closer to the base, the speed is supposed to increase. If you can at least double the speed limit you'll earn a few points from time to time...

Depends on where you're from I guess. Traffic is almost non-existant here, but since people are used to 5 cars on the road, it's alot of traffic. Put them in a busy place for 1 week and they'll realize they need to quit the #####ing because they have it good. It's all about perception I guess. :howdy:

Shoot, I was the SLOOOOOoooooowwwwwww driver!!

Felt like I was being pushed down the road. With as close as cars were packed on 235 I would NOT want to be out there on a bike first thing in the morning, that's for sure.

There was a time when I was perfectly happy driving in boston style traffic. I've been in southern maryland too long now though.

You've obviously never driven the beltway. 5 lanes of bumper to bumper traffic at 85 MPH.

Did it every day for years. But I've become acclimated to southern maryland!

I keep hearing all this #####ing about 235 and how bad it was but quite frankly, it was smooth sailing this morning. My point was, yeah there are plenty of cars on the road compared to any other time/location in the county but everything moved right along, no snags, and people seemed to know what they were doing.

235 at morning rush hour... :yay:

First time I took my wife home to the Boston area, she was flipped out, could not believe the way people drove there. :jameo:

"You're all $@#$@#ing insane!!!!!!!!!!" she told me as a Porsche passed us in the breakdown lane at about 85-90 to our 70 in the slow lane (we had just merged from the Pike to 95)

The next day, we went in town on Storrow Drive, :evil:she just closed her eyes and asked me tell her when it was over.

I learned to drive there. Dad gave me the keys to the car coming out of Logan and said get us home.

I NORMALLY don't but when the need arises, Boston Bumper driving comes out and I get to where I want to go. You learn how to be an agressive driver there, that or you sit on the on ramp for three hours waiting for traffic to clear up.

I don't do 235 at rush hour, so I won't speak to that, but what drives me crazy is the lights. They could really be timed better. As you sit at a red light, I can see the next light is green - until the first one is green, then it'll turn red just in time for you to get there.

The comments about the beltway & surrounding areas are spot-on. That's real traffic. 50 West at 5:30 am is scary fast, but it all grinds to a halt by 6am. Beltway from Wisconsin Ave to 270 gave me the same routine every morning. 1st gear, 2nd gear, stop. 1st gear, 2nd gear, stop. Repeat for 10 miles.

.

10 times worse at night.

NOBODY in the side roads, you leave a red light just to hit the next 5 lights red at 10 PM.

Why don't they do what NORMAL towns/cities do, turn the throughway lights to flashing yellow at night?

Used to do that at midnight. Originally it was 10, then 11, then midnight. Actually... I think it still might be midnight for a few of them.
