Is anyone fed up with Steny Hoyer? Isn't it time for him to go?
Bailey for US Congress | 2008 (http://www.baileyforuscongress.com/)
Don't use the excuse that you don't know much about him. Look him up. Let's give him a shot. If you're still not sure, just cast your vote for Bailey as a vote againt Hoyer.
Hoyer is not representing the people. He does what he wants because he can and knows the voters will continue to elect him. It' time for a change.

I looked him up and he lost my vote on one sentence............
"fourth consecutive four year term as an elected member of the Charles County Board of Education. "

Yeah, but the slots will fix the school systems so what's the problem? :sarcasm: Our kids will become brilliant once they get more money from the slots.

I think we should give him a chance to see if he can refuse the chance to be an accomplice to a $700 Billion theft.

Steny Hoyer knows he can do whatever he pleases and still get re-elected. He said, "Geez, pissed off constituents, or pissed off party mates? Eh, the constituents will get over it."

I have had enough of Steny for a couple of elections now.
Steny serves the Democrat party, not his constituents, and it appears to be very lucrative. Oh yeah he does get us some pork, but thats to keep purchaisng your vote and keep himself in office. Politicians are good at that.
I dont think we can beat Steny, too many die hard Democrats will vote him back in, but if we can muster enough votes against him we can sure as hell send him a message that we arent happy about his actions.

My thoughts exactly. Even if I vote for Collins, he's not going to win but it will make me feel better at the poll. If you don't vote for either one, that doesn't send any message. Vote for Collins just because.

It's not the Democrats keeping him in, its the Republicans and Independents that work on base and feel he serves their interest. I'm an Independent that has voted for Hoyer just on the basis that I could actually sit down and talk with him, but this year he's losing my vote. He's had too much koolaid.

It isn't the base that keeps Hoyer in, it's PG County.

Very True. Like it or not, NAS is the bread and butter for the county and southern Maryland. You may disagree with me on that, but I will find it hard to imagine anything else.
Now, to Mr. Hoyer. I have a great deal of respect for the man and he did a good job at one time. I am very disappointed in his recent productivity for not only the county but for the nation. BUT....it is time for change. it may not be the best solution, but it will be a different one.
I even gave him the benefit of the doubt because I am sure he is not one of Pelosi's clowns. But enough is enough.
In the last few years of Bush bashing, I am trying to figure out what the Congress has really done. Specifically, since the DEMS gained control.
Unless I have been asleep at the wheel, I have not seen a lot of bills being vetoed by the President with the DEMS. I have not seen a lot of action. I have seen a few bouts of verbal assualt but no substance. I have seen a lot of partisan bickering, like school aged children. It is old, it is embarrassing.
So when I vote this year, it will be about change for all the incumbants. My feeling is simple, we voted you in for a job, you failed to do it, let's put someone else in there to see if they can do something. it may not be the best solution, but I am very very very tired of the same old song and dance.
No, this does not automatically mean I am voting for Obama, the presidential vote is soemthing unique in itself. Unless there is a serious third party candidate, our options are small. I have not decided yet whether to vote Macain or Obama, but in either case, each in their own right is a vote for change. Obama has just been able to communicate it more effectively.
Mr. Hoyer, a simple message. Look at your margin of victory for this election and compare to previous years. The people will be speaking and my bet is if Mr. Collins does not win, there will be a viable candidate next time.

I thought I have heard that Collins Bailey children are home schooled. If this is true, why would he be part of the Board of Education?

I can only assume that his experiece with the Board of Ed and knowing what really goes on in school has probably influenced his decision to home school.
We've done both kinds of skoolin' and I can't really say I'm impressed with public school.

Maybe some of you are new comers to the County. We used to be part of District 1, which was us, the Eastern Shore, and Cecil County. We had good representatives, then after 2000 decenial census we wer Gerrymandered into Hoyers district. He took credit for "saving the Base" under the non-partisan BRAC process. Anyone who was here before NAVAIR moved here knows we were better off then, less traffic, less congestion, etc. Hoyer is a big talker, he does nothing good. Time to vote him out and get a Southern Maryland Representative, not a P.G. county self proclaimed tax and spend Democract.
Roy Dyson was the only Democract I have voted for when he was our Representive.

So: what you are saying is that Collins Bailey thought enough about your opinion that he is trying to call you to explain his status . He called twice in fact and you havent bothered to answer or to call him back???

I'll agree that Hoyer has got to go, I'm very upset about the whole bailout bill.. He was one of the main ones pushing for it, I emailed him twice during that time and didn't hear a word from him or his people.
I've been doing the research on Baily, and I'm still up in the air about him.. I would like to learn more about him. I've also been looking for info on the Libertarian canidate Darlene Nicholas, does anyone know anythinga about her???

Thanks for the link; I looked at that the other day. But I guess I just skimmed over it.... His tax plan is very interesting
"The new tax rates should be 2-1/2% up to $100,000.00; 5% for income from $100,001.00 to $500,000.00; 7-1/2% for income from $500,001.00 to $1,000,000.00; and 10% for income over $1,000,000.00. The implementation of the new tax rates should be put in place in the order I have them listed, beginning with the lowest level of income earners."

I know for a fact that he has his children in private school's, while he serves on the school board trying to change the public schools. He, as well as another board member, wanted to bring bibles to all the classrooms and have everyone wear uniforms. If you want to have your kids taught like that, thats fine, but don't try to change everyone else's kids educational experience when you won't even have your own there. I'll vote for Hoyer anyday before I'd even ever say two words to Bailey.
