I have a son who is 12-1/2 and one who is 17-1/2 (with processing delays, etc.) to whom I owe conducting myself with grace & dignity. My younger son is reading John McCain's autobiography and he has a LOT of emotional investment in this whole election process. (he had just gotten to the POW chapter, yesterday, I kid you not.)
When he gets up in a few minutes, I will be breaking the news to him and showing him what it's like to be a gracious loser and a TRUE American. This is the way we roll in America. (or at least, the way I do)

While Sen. Obama did not earn nor receive my vote, he won the election. One of the best things about the United States of America is our ability to accept new political leadership without a governmental overthrow - we do it with full acceptance and respect of the process.

Congratulations to the Democratic Party for a very hard, long and expensive campaign. With the election of an African American to the top job of the United States that just proves that unfair and illegal programs are no longer required. The State of Nebraska saw fit and put it on the ballot and approved stopping the illegal practice of discrimination. "Affirmative Action in Nebraska, Colorado: Voters in the Cornhusker state approved a constitutional amendment to bar public agencies, such as universities and city governments, from considering race, gender and ethnicity when handing out contracts, hiring employees and awarding scholarships. (Omaha World-Herald) In Colorado, a similar measure was too close to call. (Rocky Mountain News)"

For the immediate concerns, the Secret Service has a tough first couple of months to get past. The die-hard racists that everyone knows are still in vast numbers within the USA are collectively screaming and ranting as I type this message. If only one thousandth of one percent of them actually DO something, we'll have serious problems facing our countries civil security until those radicals are dealt with.
You think that there are hundreds of thousands of die-hard racists? I seriously doubt it. Maybe a couple thousand.

If you believe that over 64 million people who voted for President Elect Obama were "brainwashed", then I suspect that it is in fact YOU that is "brainwashed".
When 64 million people select a person as President, it's a result of our country making a decision.
I'm not for sour grapes so I won't say anything about Obama.
However, to say that a mass of that size cannot be brainwashed is obtuse thought.
Check back to that chapter in your history book labeled "Hitler's rise".:yay:
And that's just for starters.

Get real man. This isn't anything even similar in nature to that of Hitlers Germany.
No, 64 million Americans cannot be brainwashed into voting in a predetermined way. Not today. Not in America.
If you don't think so then you need to get real.
Not with today's learning outlets.
Exactly my point. People are so easily influenced these days.
Not a David Cronenberg fan, are you?
BuddyLee
11-07-2008, 01:14 AM
No, people "these days" are not easily influenced in the degree that would be necessary to "brainwash" 64 million Americans into voting without regard to their own wishes. I'm sorry, but you sound like just another poor loser striking back. You need to give it up and accept your loss gracefully. My my my...I've mentioned nothing about the election whatsoever and have been perhaps one of the most gracious on these boards and yet...
...you sound like you've lost. Imagine that. I didn't even vote for Bush either.:jet:
You're taking 'brainwash' too literally. People these days are subconsciously brainwashed. If you don't think the grandiose media can have such an effect then you're only fooling yourself. Fewer have done more.
In fact, I had to look up David Cronenberg. "Scanners" was fiction. Outlandish fiction. If you equate it to real life in any way, then I think you watch too much TV.
Reality is my life. It has been for 56 years.
Yes, fiction but you get the point. It's too bad you're blinded by your own reality though.

64 million American voters voted against the status quo without scratching the surface of the man they elected. Brain washed may be an extreme way of describing these 64 million people, however I'm very comfortable calling them extremely mis guided. Obama was everywhere, every other commercial, all over the news, the internet... We were bombarded with polls displaying him as the clear cut winner. We seldom ever heard anything negative about Obama in the news that was explored thoroughly enough to make a lasting impression. This constant bombardment "influenced" the majority enough to vote for a man with no executive experience, no military experience with an extremely liberal voting record in the senate.
On another forum I asked an Obama supporter how Obama will fix our country and his response was "Change Idiot". What an insightful answer to a serious question - NOT. I would be interested in knowing just how many of those 64 million voters think that "change" is a valid solution to a problem.
I pose the same question to you.... Tell us all why Obama is more qualified than Mccain was to be president? Tell us how he's the better man.....
I pray that Obama does a great job as President because this country can't afford for him to fail. Heck, he better be the best President this country has ever had or we could be in serious trouble!

This seems to be a resounding theme with many of the Obama voters.... I don't get it.
I just want to know how they justify voting for a man with no leadership experience at a time in our history where we clearly need a proven leader in the White House.

What a generalized statement of baloney.
You sir, need to pick up a book on human psychology. What you've just said is so vague, so generalized and so inaccurate that it's truly laughable.
People are influenced by many, many things. Thousands of factors are in play that make us what we are.
What we have been told is one minor part of how people are influenced. Logic, reason, peer pressure, education...all of these things weigh much more than "what we are told".
You are SO freakin' intellectual! And superior! You should write us a post every day telling us how to think :notworthy Maybe we can hold hands and "move on" together.

I've never claimed a fraction of superiority. I've stated my views. I've stated objections to what I believe to be incorrect statements. YOU misinterpret those actions as an attempt to be superior. Sorry, but that's your problem, not mine.
Then you conclude your smartass post with a childish, immature comment.

I'd like to ask you how what I've said coincides with what you've expressed?
It doesn't really, which is why I didn't read half of what you wrote. I don't have the time for the sort of discourse that goes nowhere. If you want to discuss my argument, I would be more than glad. If you want to go on an innumerable amount of tangents, which have no bearing on the original argument then be my guest. You'll only be browbeating and typing to yourself though.
We do have to keep in mind that Obama won with a 52% majority. That's hardly a landslide. I'd say that this was a very close race.
How do you feel about that?
In my initial post to you I mentioned nothing of the election. I merely took note of your anti-brainwashing sentiment and told you what I thought . I do think the masses can be brainwashed but probably not how you're thinking. No, we're not slobbering troglodytes. However, We are very susceptible to the media these days. You cannot escape it and it is bound to have an impact on you and even shape you one way or the other. I think we can all agree on that.
Your premise, that I believe that everyone who voted for Obama was brainwashed is a pre-ejaculatory conclusion. I think we're all brainwashed to an extent but not to the extent that every single individual will vote one way.
Everyone is a product of what they've been told throughout life, like it or not.
Whether you like it or not this is true. As is what you wrote.
People are influenced by many, many things. Thousands of factors are in play that make us what we are.
People are influenced by many things. The media contains an inexplicable amount of these things. Whether one agree's or disagree's with what they're told, it still shapes them. It defines them.

As you can see by my post count, I'm new to the group. I don't know either of you well enough to base an opinion for myself. As time passes and I've gotten to post back-and-forth with each of you, I'll learn who you are through what you say in your posts.
When I argue, I do so on a high level. I make a list of things that need to be proven to show the argument to be correct. Then I cover each of the items on that list until the list has been shown within my argument.
So far, I've been labeled as a person who "acts superior" by vraiblonde as a result of how I argue, and BuddyLee has admitted that he argues without even reading what it is that he's arguing about.
I've noticed that the vBulletin feature "Buddy or Ignore List" is used on this board, so after evaluation by me, I'll decide if these two, as well as yourself, are worthy of being placed in either of these lists.
Everyone has they're own values and tolerances. When someone treats me in a manner that goes outside those tolerances and behaves in a manner that is across grain with my own values, then to avoid stress, I just place them into the Ignore List and no longer see anything that they've posted.

Either your kidding or your terribly naive. There are more than a "couple of thousand" in just New York City. I'm talking about people who despise other people as a race. No consideration for individuals exists in these types of peoples minds. I've met a bunch of them. I know one here in Florida that is an Executive in a major corporation who, (thinking that I was a fellow racist), told me in all seriousness that it "was proven that black people had thicker sculls and that is what makes them less intelligent as a race, than white people". The ignorance of some people in relation to race is astronomical in the USA to this day. If you truly believe that there is only a couple of thousand die-hard racists in the USA, I would suggest that you have a very sheltered life.
I'm happy for you, and I mean that in earnest. I honestly wish I didn't know better.
Keep this in mind as well; racism doesn't only originate with white people. It's also rampant in other races towards other races and whites.
Blacks hating Latinos, blacks hating whites, Latinos hating whites, Latinos hating blacks, Orientals hating whites, Orientals hating blacks...etc etc etc
I've seen each of them. I'm not talking about a mild dislike for someone because of their race, I'm talking unreasonable hate.
Obama is the first black person to become President in the USA. The very thought of it makes racists in several races hate him.
To me, the problems with Obama being "black" are actually humorous. His Mother is white. That means he's just as "white" as "black". After 56 years of life, I still think the entire racial thing is one of the most ignorant things about humans that exists. Anyone who allows themselves to be a racist is also allowing themselves to remain ignorant of real life, and I mean this to everyone, of every race.
Yes, my original statement concerning the number of "die-hard" racists stands.
Sadly.
I guess it depends on your definition of "die-hard racist".

From the post you quoted: "I'm talking about people who despise other people as a race. No consideration for individuals exists in these types of peoples minds."
The type of person who thinks this way, doesn't use logic. Doesn't use reason. Doesn't use education. Doesn't use real life examples and will live the remainder of their racist life thinking the way they do right now, despite any logic, reason, educated argument or real life examples that they're shown or told.
That is what I mean by a "Die-Hard Racist"
There are hundreds of thousands of them in the USA.
I'm not picking on the USA. These types of people are all over our planet. Every country has them. Entire populaces have been subject to torture, murder and starvation due to nothing but pure, hate filled racism.
Every year, racism kills more people than any war has done.
Every year, racism causes more pain and suffering, both mental and physical, than any person can grasp within their mind. The shear volume of suffering caused by racism is so astronomical that it's widely ignored by the masses because it's too overpowering to contemplate within a reasonable mind.
I voted for McCain, but it had nothing what-so-ever to do with Obama's race. Obama's lack of experience makes me very, very apprehensive.
I do congratulate the people of the USA for finally having the moral strength that would allow a person of race other than pure white to be elected to the most powerful position of leadership in the world.
It's a step forward, a large step forward in the battle to defeat racism.
That's one hell of a soap box you stand on.
You say that you're a registered Republican who voted for McCain, but you sure do sound like an Obama supporter.
One more thing... Get to the point. Your posts are exceedingly long and boring. Lots of words with little substanance. Just spend a moment gathering your thougths before you start hacking away at that poor keyboard of yours.

What are you, the site critic? I couldn't care less what I sound like to you. Why do you think your impression of me would matter? Secondly, you must have the attention span of a child. My posts were through and defined. I covered each possible argument to the theory I was discussing. That can't be done in sentences such as the ones you find in the books you're used to; "See spot run" "Timmy goes to the market" and the like.
If my posts bother you, then skip over them. That's not rocket science.
I'll post as I feel best. You have absolutely NOTHING to do with what I do.
If you ever do find yourself in the library, stay in the children's area. The books in there have nice short sentences that you'll have no problem understanding.
Other that those bits of information, how about if you just bite me?
Oh you silly little rascal....
You cared enough to repond with with more if your worthless key stroking rhetoric.
I don't normally read childrens books except for at night when I'm putting my little ones to bed. I will say though; those childrens' books I read atleast convey a point.
I'm starting to think that your a homeless man who somehow found a laptop on the side of the road and an over the air wireless connection.

You have such cute little expressions. The answer is obvious; you simply don't understand what I've said, so you equate to as you do everything you don't understand, to be worthless.
You remind me of a guy who was cleaning out my septic tank once, who said; "I don't need no school learnin, I does jus fine witout it".
You're actually pretty damn funny.
Ignorance is that way sometimes. Perhaps your children will pass you if they stay in school past the 5th grade.
We can only hope.
I'm equally sure that my posts are worthless to you. It's kind of like handing an encyclopedia to a pig; the pig can't use it, can't understand it, has no comprehension of what it contains and will probably just crap on it.
Okay I get it.
This was suppose to be an insult? You could never insult me, you're neither smart enough nor worthy enough.
I'm betting that the man cleaning out your septic tank posessed a higher IQ than you did. I hope you showed him a little respect and thanked him for dealing with your ####. A job which qualifies him for the nobel peace prize in my opinion.
I won't have all day to play back and forth with you and amuse your infantile mind so consider this my last retort to you for the day. I encourage you to keep posting. You're doing well at displaying how inept you are.....
Good luck storming the castle.......

But you should get this; you can join vraiblonde on my ignore list.
I'll do the same for you that I did for that idiot; It means I won't see your posts, dumbass.
Just as I'm sure both of you idiot racists will continue to post to me.
Die soon, azzwipe. The world doesn't need or want your type.
I'm on his ignore list which regretfully means that he won't be able to read this. Personally, I don't think he's capable of ignoring anyone, lacks the maturity for it.
For a man who supposedly promotes peace and harmony among different racial groups he sure uses allot of slanderous comments while attempting to get his point across. Hypocritical is the only way to describe poeple who do this. They'll say one thing, however thier actions clearly show who they really are as people.
NGM claims to not be a racist but he is certainly immature and irresponsible. To hate a racist is as bad as to be a racist since people who fall into either category are as equally harmful to society and its ability to live in harmony. I equate his position as one similiar to that of a pro life person who wishes to kill the doctor giving the abortion, and often times does.

It's pretty funny to see how a group of racists who use anonymous names get all stirred up by one person who shows them for what they are. We've all seen how this type of person acts when in public. They avoid even getting near people of a different race. They don't understand how someone of another race thinks, because they've always feared them and in that fear, they're afraid to even talk to anyone who isn't of the same race as they are.
Unreasonable fear of another person because of the color of their skin.
Just look at their posts. They flaunt their ignorance like a flag. Waving it in the wind to show everyone how truly ignorant they are.
I mean, REALLY read their posts. They stick together like a pack of, well, like a pack of racists.
They have to. No one else will listen to their ignorant mutterings.
Their own words tell the story. I stirred them up like a hornets nest. Like hornets, they swarm with mindless rage and defend their group, attacking anyone who is not like them.
Watching them post like crazy after being told that the object of their hate is no longer able to even see them is entertaining.
Racists are stupid, ignorant people, but above all, their antics are funny when you hear them try to justify their bullcrap.
Thanks for the laugh, racists. You've improved my day just by identifying yourselves so that I could rid my view of several of you at once.
Now I can go about the site and see more good people.
I knew he was still reading our allegedly ignored comments. Just humor me some more please and tell me which ethnic group I'm racist towards...

for what it's worth, it's my opinion that racism is still pretty prominent in somd.
it might pay to read the definitions of it.
1 : a belief that race is the primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race
2 : racial prejudice or discrimination
so, by these definitions, one doesn't have to necessarily discriminate *against* any particular race to be racist; they can rather believe in the superiority of a particular race to be racist. as in, ethnic minorities don't measure up.

I don't believe I am superior to anyone. I do not like the Democrat choice of Obama, his policies are too left for me and my family. Hopefully he surrounds his self with more experienced people that have a clue how DC politics work.

Judging by the amount of instant hatred that got all stirred up when I brought the racism that some members here have to light, I'd say you were very correct.
Wow! Get a load of those guys. One even resorted to counter attacking by calling me a hermaphrodite, of all things. Like most racists as soon as you bring their racism to light, they get tremendously defencive and start ridiculing the person who showed them as racists. This is a typical move by that type of person. They have no defence for their blatant racism, so they try to distract with name calling and counter attacks, hoping it will make everyone notice something else other then their racism.
Tonight was just a small example of how that works. If you do this in person, they generally attack physically. They'd rather beat someone to death than be exposed publicly for what they are.
Like I was telling another person, there are hundreds of thousands of racists in the USA. Maybe millions.
It will be hundreds more years before the types of people like the ones I exposed this afternoon will die off. They try to indoctrinate their children into their own ignorance, but ever so slowly, they're losing. Their children are turning out to be smarter than their parents in that respect.
Just look at some of these morons posts. Pure, unadulterated racism.
In their ignorance, they're proud to be what they are.
