Anyone heard anything about an accident on Renner Rd this morning? I keep getting text messages about it but haven't found anything online.

I drove by this morning taking my son to daycare right after it happened. Was at least 3-4 cars, one was in the median (looks like it somehow came from the lane heading towards Waldorf) and two other cars in the lane heading towards St. Mary's were very smashed up. When I came back through after dropping him off, the ambulances and police were there and they were trying to remove the driver of the car in the median. Whatever happened, it looked pretty bad.

From what I could tell, a dark colored PT Cruiser was in the median (what was left of one) and two other vehicles spread around. It did look really bad, heard the helicopter above.

i was about 20 cars back on 5N when they stopped traffic for it in both directions, so I followed the Keller bus in front of me that made a U-Turn. I drafted that bus all the way back to Rt 5 at the Dash in. :neener:

It was huge. I'm sorry for all those involved. Hope everyone is all right.

Not surprised, they pull out of there and further down where the townhouses are onto northbound 5 like they own the road. I have to jam on the brakes at least once a week because of some idiot not paying attention.

Sure hope they are alright, but next time they pay attention. What a biatch of a way to learn... :coffee:

Must have missed it, came through about 530, was this on Rt. 5 in Forest Park @ Renner, or northside of Forest Park @ Renner and the gravel pit entrance.

You just barely missed it 'cause I came through at 5:45 and it had just happened probably minutes earlier, if that...it was before Forest Park where you can take Renner in the exit right off of 5 (up by the gravel pit).

One of my kids this morning said that they saw somebody in cuffs, so I'm not sure what that was all about..But I heard it looked really bad.

Praying for those involved.

Wow it was actually 5:37 when I turned onto Mattawomen from 5, actually looked at the clock, first day back on dayshift in 3 months, always look to see what time it is when I hit that spot on my commute, its usually between 5:30 and 5:34 everyday and I know I can hit Marlboro by 6am. Had my scanner and FD pager with me but didnot hear it get dispatched, getting old, hard of hearing I guess:shrug:.

I'd like to point out that as far as where the townhouse neighborhood is - the majority or cars you see coming from there are the people who lurn right by McKays to avoid sitting through the light! It causes a huge impact from people who do live in the townhouse neighborhood because some mornings it's a biatch to try and leave our houses!! And yes - they do pull out like they have the right of way - unfortunately, sometimes it's necessary, like when the traffic backs up, it's rare to find someone who is going to give you a presidential to go!

You know what, most of the vehicles that time in the morning are the welding contractors for the gas pipe project going back in to the gravel pit for whatever they are going in there for before they go out to work. Those guys have no regard for traffic coming up the road...

Ok - you mean coming from the Parkway across 5 to Mattawoman/Beantown Road they make a right and turn at the townhouses? :faint:

Those lines get long on North 5 to make a right on Mattawoman/Beantown...

What idiots...

Yes - that's what I meant! That's the case of the majority you see coming from there. Between that and the new construction zone, with the tractor trailors making turns the opposite way - it's a real pain to leave our homes unless the sun, moon and stars are aligned properly!

When Im backed up sometimes as far as the gravel pit to make my right onto Mattawomen if I see a car coming out of the townhouses coming across when Im approaching if its possible Ill let them in front of me, but what really burns me is when Ive sat there from the gravel pit up to the light and you get the rude people who try to butt in at the last moment before the yield (including the Keller buses) thats when I wish I had bumper like a tow truck has.
Now your saying people are coming out of St. Charles Pky turning right then coming across the crossover to go north on 5 thats really aggraviting(sp).

We couldnt see anything this morning - we turned around and hit Billingsly Road to 301. Traffic was stopped thru Forest Park at 6:45 still.

I have the SAME problem...the jerks who cut you off when you've been doing what you're supposed to. Pisses me off almost as bad as the jerks who fly up the 4th lane on 5/301 by the WaWa/7-11 and then want to cut you off...they KNOW the lane ends so why not get over before? They are the reason why traffic is so bad going through there in the a.m.

Sorry Im  of doing that to, but I pride myself in timing it just right and Ive never cut anyone else off and its always been a smooth merge on my part, I dont wait till the end of the lane like some people do. Im also enjoying the new lane up by Target and Costco, makes it easier to get around the slower moving trucks at the light.

Smowlover :smack:dont be jealous of our nicer looking trucks.
