I don't know if Biden already has a dog, but I think it's kind of funny that Obama's getting a dog NOW when he didn't have one before. Sure, he told the girls he'd buy them a dog - but would he have gotten the dog even if he didn't win the presidency? I think it makes a difference about who's going to be taking care of it. It's easy to get a dog and have someone else take care of it. Like White House staff paid for by the American people.

My guess is that he'll be very involved within the administration but it might not be as visible as Gore or Cheney.
