158 batches failed out of a total of 4985 total batches what is the percentage of failure and how did you get the number? :confused:

...158 div by 4985 = .031695 * 100 = 3.1695% failed.

Edited to get it right!!!

...just to pick nits, my numbers were right, .031695 out of 1 which is the same as 3.1695 per CENT, per 100. I just expressed it wrong because I'm always in a hurry and I know what I meant! :lol:

...write this down and keep it handy;

% = the number you're looking for divided BY the whole;

In your case the 'whole' was 4985 and you were looking for the % that failed.
158 failed. So, 158 divided BY 4985 = .031695 and THEN multiply by 100 to get percent, per 100, so, 158 (what you're looking for) divided BY 4985 (the whole, what you're looking for OUT of) then times 100 to express as per cent.

3.1695%

Next, we do area of a circle... :lol:

:jameo:

Did you mean median? Cause, like, mathematically speaking mean means the same as average. Median means the point in a distribution at which there are as many values above as there are below. The context of your response makes it seem like you meant median, that's why I ask. That and the fact that I'm a mathematical nit-picker. :lmao:

That's the area of an acute circle.

What about the area of an obtuse circle?
