Windows 7: Some Minor Improvements, No Game Changer (http://money.cnn.com/news/newsfeeds/siliconalley/big-tech/2008_12_windows_7_some_minor_improvements_no_game_changer_msft.html)

The summary: "I like Windows 7, a lot. Microsoft seems to have put a lot of effort into developing a core operating system that is free from the pointless frills of the likes of XP and Vista. The OS is solid and fast."

Hmmm.... I'll hold my judgment for a while yet....

It's a beta, I know for a fact that review won't stick. I want to see how it preforms on 64bit, and what changes will be made when the final is out. Everybody raved about Longhorn before they found out it was Vista, then they all complained about it.

Longhorn? Wasn't it the Mojave experiment? Or was that something else? Vista got far too much bad pub at the start, because the operating system is fine now. Would be nice if it was a little bit less of a resource hog though.

Nah, Longhorn was the test name of Vista back in 2003-04. Everyone was raving about it, mainly because of the GUI updates. Microsoft went through a fair amount of changes before Vista finally came out.

The leaked beta is damn close to the same thing as vista, with a few graphical changes, namely in bars and menus. I'm getting a major bug with audio... but its still in beta so...
