Anyone have a clue? I just installed MS Office 2007 and like every other version I have ever used, I directed Outlook to import my personal folder (.PST) file into my new Outlook. It has worked every time before, however, this time I am told by the software that I do not have the authority to perform this function. If I have administrator rights on my ow home system, how come I don't have authority to import the file? Is this something peculiar to 2007?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.7) 320x240; VZW; Motorola-Q9c; Windows Mobile 6.0 Standard)

Right click on the file, choose properties. Look for something about the ownership rights. Take ownership of the file. Change ownership to everyone or to you.

The file probably thinks it belong to the last system it was on.

You're welcome.

You don't import .PST files. Go to file/open/Outlook Data File. Magic.

Hmmm...In the Outlook that I'm using here at work, I go to
File/Data File Management/Add and then you select which type of file it is (97-02 Outlook, or newer) :yay: Maybe try that if what GW said doesn't work for you.

Thanks! I'll give it a try. Seems like they would incorporate a "Wizard" into the installation so if you are upgrading from an earlier version it would automatically go fetch the file for you. I was careful to export the personal folders before I did anything so I would'n lose anything. Now I just need to get it back.

And the winner is BoyGenius. Since the installation is on a home computer and not part of a network or work team, the easiest way to get the files into Outlook is to import them. All I had to do was right click on the file name, select the Security tab and increase the permissions on my account name. Then when I went back in to Outlook and selected File and Import/Export I followed the same path to the .PST file and everything from the original inbox, personal folders and contacts jumped in to their proper places.

Thanks for the help from each of you. I did have some results by using the Add function from the Tools/Options, but it didn't format exactly as I wished.
