I'm not in the market, but I'm curious. How many miles? What color? Size engine?

Yeah, you've got to factor in mileage and overall condition of the vehicle.

I've have almost 73,000 miles, and it has been painted. The seats have scratches from cell phone. Engine's in good condition. Just had a valve gasket replaced today...first time for any thing like that, and the extended warranty expires in April. It's getting old, but I love it.

Don't you mean HEAD gasket? Internal combustion engines don't have valve gaskets.

Not trying to be condecending; just informative.

You can take that up with the mech...that's what he said. I'm clueless.

Hmmm......well, BMW is an import; not a GM product, so maybe they do have valve gaskets. I've never worked on a Beamer.....

Could be a valve cover gasket.

Could be a valve cover gasket.

That was the other thing I thought of but didn't mention; obviously, right?

The dealership I worked at a year ago had a 2006 BMW 6 Series Convertible with the "I" Drive system and it went on the blink about a week after we took it in. We'd sent it to the BMW dealership (Tate) in Annapolis to have it fixed, and I went with the other driver to pick it up.

I'd been handed an envelope with a check inside when we left and I handed it to the guy at the service desk. When he handed me the paperwork I looked it over and all they did was reset the computer on the car and changed the oil & filter. The bill and the check was for $495! UFB!

Sure changed my mind about EVER buying any BMW
