Obama Becomes Irritated, 'Stares Down' Reporter During Press Corps Visit
When a reporter tried to quiz Obama about a lobbyist chosen for a top Defense Department job, the president became quickly agitated.
WASHINGTON -- President Obama paid a surprise visit to members of the White House press corps on Thursday evening when he walked through their working area of the West Wing, but when he was confronted with a question by one of the journalists he quickly became agitated.
According to reports, when Politico's Jonathan Martin asked the president about his nominee for deputy Defense Secretary, William Lynn, Obama refused to answer, saying he was not there to take questions and became quickly agitated.
Obama was willing to field lighter questions, though.
:dye:
Yes, he's discovered the gym in the White House residence. No, he hasn't played basketball yet on the outdoor White House court because it's been too cold.

You forget to leave this part (see below) out of the article?
"I came down here to visit. I didn't come down here -- this is what happens. I can't end up visiting you guys and shaking hands if I am going to grilled every time I come down here," the president said.
Pressed further by the Politico reporter about his Pentagon nominee, Obama turned more serious, putting his hand on the reporter's shoulder and staring him in the eye.
"All right, come on" he said, with obvious irritation in his voice. "We will be having a press conference, at which time you can feel free to [ask] questions. Right now, I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself to you guys -- that's all I was trying to do," Politico.com reported.

What would give Obama the idea he could meet with the press and not have them do their job, which is ask questions? He could have simply said, "Hey, no questions, save them for the press conference later," with no agitation or annoyance.

Some of these reporter-types need to drop their pen, paper and tape recorder and pull their stick out of their ass once in a while.

So he tries to be nice and the press can't wait a little while for the press conference?
I don't blame him for getting irritated

I don't either. I'm just surprised it was even reported. Obama is a man with human flaws like everyone else.

I disagree. All that's on the news is how wonderful everything is now that Obama's the President. Heck, a report came out saying our life expectancies just rose.
The honeymoon will eventually wither and perhaps serious talk will revolve around policy instead of race.

By media, I don't just mean the news on TV, per se...there is also all of the stuff about Guantanamo, the CIA interrogation places, etc...
but the majority has been good press

How about the Dr.Strangelove pose Dick Cheney pulled on Tuesday. He "pulled his back moving boxes from the White House". Yeah, moving all those secret files.
