Quick question all. Moved to MD from PA late 2007. Had cars inspected. Everything I read states that inspection here is a one time thing (unless you get a fix-it from Police for something that does not look safe). I realize that I will need to renew registration next year. Question: Why does vehicle inspection decal show an expiration at the one year mark? Do I need to get a new inspection decal annually?
My concern is that I had to pull window tint off to get initial inspection. I went without tinting for over a year and just decided to get put on again. Now today I noticed the expiration date. Hate to think I have to go through that mess again after just spending another $200 for tinting.
Help!!!
Thanks.

If there's a date on the inspection certificate that just means that certificate will expire. Once you get tags for your vehicle you do not have to have it MD inspected again. Tags renew every 2 years. Not sure if that helps.

You only need to inspect if you buy/sell after the initial inspection

That was incredibly fast. Thanks. So since I received my tags a while back, I can disregard that inspection decal expiration. Whew....

You'd only need an inspection certificate if you were going to sell it. Even then you really don't need it. You could always leave that part up to the buyer. MD wants it when you get tags.

What inspection decal? From what I have seen, Maryland does not use inspection decals.
Unless maybe it's an emissions inspection sticker. But I don't have one of those either since I live in St. Mary's County.

Not sure why I have one either. I checked on our other vehicle which we purchased from a used car dealer here in MD and there is not even a sticker in the car. I guess since that dealer had plates on the car already, there was no need for the "temp" sticker. Unless there is any reason to keep it on, I will probably just scrape t hat sticker off the window some time.
Thanks again.

All you should have for your vehicle is a white registration card that matches the current tag and VIN # on the car.

Y'all are lucky . I moved from MD to NC and have to have vehicle inspected EVERY year at cost of $30. We used to have to display sticker , now its scanned into registration

Yeah, but your inspections are probably way more lenient.

A lot cheaper anyway.

Only other inspection in Md is the emmisions inspection and they get you for that one once every two years. Only certain counties do it. Calvert has been doing it for years and the other counties are going to pick it up. It's a way for them to take you for more money.
