Vrai should make this a sticky every winter.
To think just three weeks ago people on these forums were complaining about roads being pre-treated for what ended up being a snoozer.

maybe the schools should have all of their drivers do an evassive driving school, for rain, sleet and snow... or hell even plain dry weather in a controlled area

I'm not sure what accident you guys were talking about, but I attend Lackey and we had one student get into an accident involving a bus the day we had really bad snow and we still had school on time and then they issue a two hour delay. She is a junior who was on her way to school drive a Mazda RX-8 and she somehow slid into the bus and damaged her car pretty bad. Luckily, no one was hurt. There was an accident a while ago where a student got seriously injured and hasn't been back to school yet. I believe that was the day we had really bad rain, but I'm not sure. I just hate hearing about accidents, better yet accidents involving fellow friends at school.

Are you writing this on behalf of the Superintendent of the Charles County Schools? Don't you work for one of the school sytems in the area? Are you using one of the school system's computers to post this crap?

What can you do in a situation like this? Waldorf got covered in snow, but as soon as you get out of Waldorf, there was literally nothing on the ground! It took me 45 minutes to drive all of 2 miles down 228 this morning, but as soon as I got to 301, it was fine. Crazy weather, but you just have to slow down, drive carefully and keep your head on straight.

These accidents were not due to the weather. They were due to the driver(s) involved not driving according to the weather.

I'm pretty sure the car didn't misbehave. I'm thinking it was the *driver* acting stupidly. I'm pretty sure responsible kids can be given a RX-8 and drive properly.
Oh, and BTW, 2 county road plow trucks went off the road this morning. I can't believe how irresponsible the drivers' parents were! Probably wouldn't have happened if they were driving old klunkers.

 I actually was under the impression that those cars were more powerful than they are, but still...200+ hp for a FIRST car, is a bad idea.
I'd be willing to call the parents irresponsible, though I'm sure they were just trying to be nice and get their little princess what she wanted.

What if her dad died and left it to her?
What if her grandmother got the car but couldn't handle it so she gave it to her granddaughter? What if her parents were really poor and couldn't afford to buy her one, so they had to let her use this one?
What if her car got rear ended by a midget clown so the daughter had to drive her mom's car to school?
What if her next door neighbor's dog peed on the wrong bush when it went potty, so the girl had to drive the car?

You're right...she could have gotten the car for numerous reasons. Who am I to judge just because I'm jealous that I didn't get one? :lmao: (well, I did get a truck since my parents are awesome...but it was hand me down and a couple years after I had my license until it was mine )
