Why my transmission light would come on(and no petey it's not because it's a dodge :rolleyes:)

'01 Dodge Dakota Quad cab(122,000 miles)....no noise or slipping....just stopped to make a turn and the light came on....checked the fluid level when I got home(10 miles) and it was a little low, but not empty

filter change maybe?

TCC solenoid failure, or pressure switch failure? On GM transmissions the TCC solenoid and pressure switches are an easy replacement. Drop the pan, pull couple bolts, disconnect switch/solenoid and replace. Not sure about Dodges. Your 01 is an OBD-2 car and the trouble codes are VERY specific. Drop by an autozone or someplace and get a free scan. :yay:

If that were the case....wouldn't it have come on a couple of weeks ago when it was 12 for 2 days straight?

Maybe, maybe not. Do like Luggy says, get an ODB check. I have an ODBII reader if you want, or take to to your fav auto place.... you know the one I mean...

I was just trying to get some ideas of what it could be....I already have a call in to "my" mechanic....he has a reader, also....he's going to take a look at it, fix it, change the oil and let me have his truck to drive
