Trying to network 4 computers...desktop Windows XP Home Edition SP3, desktop XP Media Center Edition SP3 and laptop XP Home 2002 SP3, and Laptop XP Pro SP2...

Can I?

Ok, but the cable guy said you can't mix home and pro...I didn't want to believe him...but we did to the network think that xp walks you through and it didn't seem to work...thanks for any input

Cable guy doesn't know what he is talking about.

You can set up a network with an XP, a Vista, a Mac and a Linux machine

He's full of sh##, and you should have told him that. Get a wireless router and follow the instructions that come with it. It's pretty easy. Good luck.
