Alright after the fiasco with the latest laptop I bought which had Vista 64-Bit OS I am looking at a new one.

But, I think I figure out what I want... Tablet PC!!!

Is there a reason not to purchase one?

I would like it to have the built in Keyboard. I also do have a tight budget of about $600 maybe $700, so that eliminates all the NEW ones built at the factory or off the retail shelf.

So I have been looking at the Lenovo (IBM) X41, X60 and X61 and it would be a used, refurb'ed or new-in-box tablet pc's. I am also purchasing a new tablet/laptop that has XP or Vista 32-Bit OS from the factory.

Other than the X41, X60 and X61's are there any other ones to look at?



I do have a few programs that I run, along with day-to-day use.
1: AmericanDJ My DMX
2: System Architect
3: Yamaha Studio Manager
4: iTunes (or another Audio Playback program)

*This laptop will not be doing any major recording, I'll bring out the MacBook Pro and 003 Rack for that.

Yes, I can too find a ton of basic/standard laptops at that price all day long and they are all pretty much the same. I am looking at a tablet for the interactive part of the shows.

I am looking more at the IBM/Lenovo X61 with the Core 2 Duo with L7500 LV (1.6GHz) with at lease 1 gig of Ram and at lease 80 gigs of space on the HD. They seem to be with in my budget.

Had an HP TC1100 - loved it.

I haven't seen any tablets on the market that come close as far as portability and the whole tablet experience. Wasn't a fast computer by any means - but physically versatile - slim, light and easy to carry around and could use it anywhere.

Check out Wacom.com. They may or may not have something of use to you. :shrug:

Actually, from your description, it sounds like you are looking for a "convertable" laptop. Basically, it's a laptop with a touchscreen that can swivel around into a tablet configuration. A true tablet will not have a keyboard. Take a look a Panasonic toughbooks I'm pretty sure they have some convertable laptops, but they are expensive, so you'd have to go used. Also look at Fujitsu laptops. Again, you'll have to look for used.

ylexot... Well Wiki (and other reviews) they put the "convertables" pc's, under the tablet section because of the touch/interactive screen.

Yep I am looking at the used or refurbed units.

If I had a "master" computer I would remote into the the master computer with just the tablet. But since I don't have a master computer I need to find one that is a touchscreen laptop that can be flipped like a tablet.

Not my favorite, but Lenovo does make quality computers.
