View Full Version : 3 Boats adrift - Mouth of the Potomac.
Just caught an USCG informational broadcast.
Missed allot but apparently there are three unmanned boats, tied together reported to have been adrift. Last seen floating in the area of the mouth of the Potomac River.

No
All I know is they said there are 3 boats.
33' Cabin Cruiser
30' Sailing Vessel
26' Cabin Cruiser
They are tied together, unmanned, unlighted.
If I heard correctly their last known postion was 2 Nautical Miles North of the Smith Point Lighthouse. If I heard correctly some one was able to anchor them at that position. I think I heard something about a recovery effort but I don't have those frequencies in. I guess I'll have to find them one of these days. Apparently they were adrift for a while and first sighted somewhere in the mouth of the Potomac.

1949: Just caught CG Sector Baltimore talking to SMITH POINT SEA RESCUE. I only heard Sector Baltimore. So apparently, they have a boat out there working the issue. Early I heard CG Balt. talking to a Cutter coming north up the bay, Last known position was just south of the motuh of the Potomac. They must have switched frequecnies I have not heard much more from them.

FWIW, Smith Point Sea Rescue is in Northumberland VA. They usually go on any calls in the Potomac.
