I wouldn't be surprised if more companies in the performance-part industry start closing, especially ones that are specialized like that, if the economy doesn't turn around in the near future.

My friend is/ was an engineer for crane cams. They were off all last week, and when they went to work yesterday, they were told to clean out there desk.

Just a sign of what's coming. I predict priorities and standard of living in the US will be changing forever. First thing to go will be our toys. You didn't see too many muscle cars in the USSR.

This doesn't surprise me. Money is tight for many and most of the newer cars don't have pushrod engines that are easily modified.

Crane DID make good stuff, have run their valvetrain components in many of my hot-rods. They had a good tech dept. also.

I read about this a few weeks ago. It sucks. I only used one of their cams, have been a Comp fan all these years.

The economy may have been a big push, but for the speed merchants Chinese forgings are hurting the US companies.

If you buy an Eagle, Scat, Callies Compstar, or other Chinese rods and cranks you're helping to kill the industry. I know the products work well for a lot less money, but in the end they will be your only choice if the US plants close.

Professional Products intakes are a cheap rip-off of Edelbrock. I'd love to see them sued.

I used to like Lunati, and like the fact that they have produced some cams with new technology and R&D behind them such as the Voodoo grinds and others with new ramp designs/rates. I just can't get behind them since they are now a Holley brand and I'm not a big Holley fan.

Did not know that - I have been out of the racing scene for about 17years. :lol: Some of the cams I had of theirs were pretty radical. We could build 400+ HP small block Chevy's all day long for nothing - I mean, dirt cheap... the big block were pushing right around 550 HP with monster torque curves for a few buck more. But, that was then and it is a different ball game today. :yay:
