I'm trying to plan my summer vacation and I'm looking for BEACHES! I've been to OBX before and I like it. Ocean City/Rehoboth is out. What are some good beaches anywhere in the US?

Do you know of any that would be good for quad use?

Mexico could be a possibility...if the flights are cheap.

Rode my first roller-coaster here. Parts of Lost Boys was filmed here too. :yay:

We love Hilton Head. Beaches are nice and flat for riding bikes. I don't know about quad use... maybe they allow them after certain hours? It's a great area, though.

I loved the place as a child. Water is cold, though, even in the summer, if I remember correctly. I loved the bumper cars they had inside.

Obx is still my favorite place, but its more the memories than the actual beach, I think. We went to Pennsacola a few times and I loved that place too. Stayed in a hotel on Rosarita Island (I may have the name wrong) and the price was right and the water was warm in December! Very pretty white beaches.

Go to Hawaii!

When I was younger I used to go to Topsail Island (NC) every year and had an amazing time. It's been over 10 years so I don't know how much it's changed, but at the time there wasn't much to do there beyond the actual beach. We always had fun, though.

Fresh water beaches rule!!!! Go to any lake in the midwest! I love the northern lakes but the water never gets warmer than 65/70.

Me too. I remember as a small child making sand candles with my parents and eating tuna sandwiches with potato chips. Extra crunchy due to the additional sand in the food.

I also remember my Uncle taking me there when I was maybe 3 or 4 y/o and using me as his chick magnet. :lmao:

Lake Michigan beaches, might just be a lake but that b!tch is huge and there are lots of lake front communities.

Just stay home and play Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball, you can look at hot girls, be at the beach and not have to worry about getting a sunburn.

I agree with this. St. Simons Island in GA is also nice. The beaches on Jekyll Island, GA aren't what they use to be but they are clean and there's a ton of history on the island. Plus both are about 45 minutes south of a kick ass outlet mall and not too far from Savannah.

That is something you would have to check into. But from what I have seen, it is no worse than any other popular place to go to. You guys could always see about renting a pontoon (spelling might be off) and taking the family out on the water for a day or two. Find your own little area for the girls to swim, fish, or whatever else you would like to do.

I'd take any of the ocean beaches from the tip of Long Island down thru New Jersey. You can say what you want about NJ, and you're probably right, but they have some of the finest ocean beaches on the east coast. Long Island's Fire Island National Seashore is just beautiful.

I'm only familiar with Ocean City, Virginia Beach, Outer Banks, Myrtle Beach and Manhattan Beach. Outer Banks is my favorite place, but Manhattan Beach is really wide and flat, and it's in the 'bubble'. LAX is closet airport. Did not see any quads.

I'm telling you, the Brunswick Islands in NC are awesome. Especially Ocean Isle Beach.

Great for kids, you won't lose them in the sea of people. So quiet and wonderful for kids and adults alike.

I have been to Ocean Isle before it is a great beach but there is nothing to do in the area, although Myrtle Beach is like 20 minutes away

ive heard this place was cool somewhere before: Home (http://www.buscobeach.com/)
its a lake beach though

for just a good beach other than the outer banks i recommend St. Augustine beach, Daytona beach, and Jekyll Island (make sure you have a large cooler with big wheels, no 711 here). Jacksonville Beach is about the same as VA Beach. If you have military base access there is a little army base in VA beach area that has a nice beach (its on the bay side though so no waves), and you can rent cabins... called Ft. Story. there is also a hotel/lodge right on the beach Link (http://www.story.army.mil/)

there are 4x4 truck trails in northeast NC, right between the border of NC and VA but i cant find the link. It's out in the sticks though. Nickel may have it.

If you like OBX have you ever tried the SOBX(southern outer banks)? That is Atlantic Beach and Emerald Isle. Just south of Ocracoke but has a tropical feel with all the Palmetto trees. Beaches are beautiful. Tons of history with shipwrecks and Fort Macon. Nearby Beaufort has Ghost walks etc. The day trip I think you might be interested in is the trip to Cape Lookout. You can get numerous ferries that rent out and you can take all your beach gear. You go out on a Carolina Skiff and the capt takes you by the islands with ponies etc. The lighthouse and beach are beautiful and I do beleive there are facilities and tours that allow off roading there. I have never done that there but I think you could google the info. If you wanted to take a scenic trip there you could go through hatteras, hop the Ocracoke ferry then continue on to the SOBX via the cedar island ferry. There is a $15 fee. Here is Cape Lookouts site

Dont forget,
if they still allow it, after you get off of the Ferry on Ocracoke, drive down the road (the only one) and count the truck entrances to the beach area.
turn in at the 4th entrance, and drive across the dune, when you get onto the beach turn left and come back up toward where the ferry was.
starting between 4 and 3, the nude sunbathers are laying out in the sand, some really nice to look at, some not so nice.

since you are in a truck, take your shirt off and they will think you are nekkid too and they just lay there and wave at you.

some really nice womens used to lay out on that stretch of beach.

Im just saying.

I would stay away during spring break or any big weekend. Most of the wild stuff happens out in the areas where boats can raft up. I'm talking hundreds if not thousands of boats.

The best beaches I have found in the U.S. are along the panhandle of Florida (Emerald Coast, for the whole stretch). White sand, turqouise (sp?) water, wonderful. Before or after summer, but not during spring break.

Someone else mentioned Sanibel Island, we went there last summer and it was nice. But not like the beaches of the panhandle.
