Firefox was the first app I installed after this last rebuild... then came IE8 RC1. Is it me or is IE trying to emulate Firefox?

I prefer and use these browsers in the order specified:
1) Firefox
2) Chrome
3) Apple Safari
4) Opera
5) MSIE
MSIE 7 is soooo slow opening up and opening new tabs, that I was hoping v8 was an improvement.

I downloaded the beta just a couple days ago and it was buggier than hell. Gave it less than 24 hours before I uninstalled it. There were a few things in IE8 that I liked, but I can't remember what they were because I was so annoyed by all the programming errors.

 Well, you all should know better than to use a Micro$oft product before the SP1 update.....
Our company is only just now releasing IE7 for corporate use...

It is the Microsoft way. Release on schedule whether it is stable or not and let the users find the bugs.
If we did stuff that way, .... well ... it is a good thing we don't.
I heard from a coworker that Microsoft is scrapping IE after this release. They are apparently going to a completely different engine. Stealing Firefox????

Who knows? The basic guts of Mozilla is freeware, maybe they plan on just layering a new GUI over it....
But that doesn't sound like the "microsoft way".

I just loaded IE8 into my computer but I "custom installed" only some of the features in it; the one that "makes old websites look better"...??
I did NOT install the "web slices" feature and 2 other ones and it seems to work fine so far. The only difference I've noticed is a change in the font of my address bar drop down.
Does anyone know what "magnificent things" it is supposed to do or what improvements it has over IE7?

I think their next browser is supposed to be called Gazelle and is will be designed to operate partially as an operating system. Meant to compete with the new effort of the Google Chrome OS/Browser.

This version should be better since it will be more w3c compliant.

A lot of the initial problems with IE8 was with websites not optimised for IE8 - I run mine in 'View all sites in compatibility mode' and I have no problems... this is with Windows 7 RC1
