I've changed my eating habits and have been making what I thought were "intelligent purchases."

I've been duped!

Edy's Sugar Free Fruit Bars (my favorite)

Total Carbs 8g

Sugars 3 g

Calories 30

Jr. Pops (no diet claims)

Total Carbs 2g

Sugars 1g

Calories 10

I would be better off eating the stuff the kids grab! I feel decieved.

Make your own fruit popcicles. This way you know exactly what is in them and you could make it with your favorite fruit combonations.

You can get the molds at most stores as well as the popcicle sticks.

how can they be sugar free if they have 3 grams of sugar?????

They're not. They are No Sugar Added. The 3 grams is from the natural sugar in the fruit.

If you read the labels, you'll see that most so-called "diet" foods replace fat with sugar. That is because fat is what gives food its flavor and when you remove it, food tastes like crap. So, they add sugar to give it some flavor but it also adds carbs and calories. Eating "normal" foods but eating less and exercising more is your best bet if you're dieting.

She's right... Cap'n Crunch peanut Butter cereal has 110 Calories. Raisin Bran 140.

Oh, that's not what it said in the original post...No Sugar Added and Sugar Free are two different things...thanks for clarifying.

sugars and fast digesting carbs are far worse for you than most fats.

Raisin Bran 140.

Raisins and other dried fruits are the worst. You think "it's fruit, right?" but it's fruit with all the water removed, so all that sugar is condensed into a teeny tiny little morsel of death.

Fruit is the devil and dried fruit is its Higher Power.

Since Crunch is so tasty you probably eat more than 1 serving a sitting. Bad.

I've had issues with raisins since elementary school. My best friend used to eat raisin and peanut butter sandwiches every day. The thought of the smell alone gives me the dry heaves.

The serving of CC is 3/4 cup and they are larger
RB is 1 cup.

I still think it is more filling.

Have you tried other brands of Raisin Bran? I like Total RB.

I either eat Total or Fiber One raisin bran on my high carb days with my eggs...

One note about fructose sugar...it has to pass through the liver before it can be processed, which greatly reduces the associated insulin spike..which basically means that fruit sugars aren't stored as fat like other sugars....so you don't have to be afraid of fruit...some are higher in glycemic value than others...but fruits such as bananas and strawberries are good to go..eat them up!

Doc told me to only eat a 1/2 a banana at a time because it could make my sugar spike quickly.

Glycemic Index GI Banana (http://www.carbs-information.com/glycemic-index-fruit/banana-gi-value.htm)

I don't know your health situation...but from a sports and fitness POV it's pretty common knowledge that bananas are great preworkout food because of there slow release to give energy for an extended period of time...

but Dr's are Dr's..not nutrionist..they are allowed to be wrong sometimes..

Really have to watch your serving sizes on the so called healthy food as well. It annoys me that you can buy one bran muffin and the serving portion reads as 2. :ohwell: So double all that info for one freaking muffin.
