You know what's sad? It's sad that I already know that if it goes to a warning instead of a watch, that i will be in the bathtub, fully dressed with a chihuahua and a bag of chips. I am so not prepared for distaster....

looks like south west of Richmond, the cell could track close to us.
All we've had so far in the Dameron area is just thunder and some rain. I fear later though will be worse. Seems like the humidity has spiked up and its gotten a little warmer.

charles county isnt even on a watch for storms or tornadoes yet and it looks like its headed this way according to the arrows on the radar!
Something inside tells me 2009 will be the year la plata sees another tornado!

You guys down south get it worst then here in Hollywood most of the time, the cell close to Richmond is moveing NE at 30, so I think its gonna be close to us when it comes up this way, but it may lose strength.

This year has been kind of weird so far. Still early, but the LP area, to Hollywood, Leonardtown, Mechanicsville and on up thru Calvert has been worse than south county.

to help build you a shelter
A root cellar would suffice. Think Wizard of Oz.
I want a basement, but any underground shelter would be great.
A modular here with a narrow hallway and very little structural integrity. The hallway will have to do with whatever padding we can pull down on us.
I want a cellar...We can hide it underneath the deck we must have.

The calls are flooding in now for trees down. I got woken up for a CPR in progress, but since I've been awake I've heard three seperate tree down calls.

I saw a few limbs down driving in this morning but nothing major. I'm sure with the ground being so wet, if we ever get some really strong winds, trees will be falling like dominos.

Us too. I'm so glad I don't have kids like I was. The first little rumble and my sister and I would pile into mom and dad's bed. My brother always wanted to but thought he was too old (or too cool) to be scared so he sat in his room, alone and scared!!

:yeahthat: I woke up, rather jolted up, when a huge clap of thunder shook our house around 1:30 this morning. I think my jumping up so suddenly woke up hubby, who otherwise probably would have slept through it. Our dog, cat and 8 week old son were sound asleep. Talk about some strong winds, rain and tons of thunder & lightening!
I finally fell back asleep around 2:30, only to be woken up by the baby 15 minutes later wanting to eat.

Thanks! I think we did pretty good. He's VERY mobile now. I have ALOT of work ahead of me in the next few weeks, building doors, and sliders on cabinets that currently don't have them. He figured out how to turn on the DVD player and how to get the DVD shelf to slide out by hitting the eject button. He's fascinated with it. It won't be long and he'll be hitting the buttons on the stereo and TV.
