Does anyone know of any Protestant church services in Spanish, in Waldorf or Charles County ? I can't find any in the yellow pages - but if they are a secondary part of an otherwise English-speaking church, then they may not be identified in the phone book. (I know Father Russo at St. Peter's has conducted Spanish masses for many years).

Not sure but I once saw a bumper sticker that said "Welcome to America now speak English!"

I find it hard to believe that a large populous urban county like Charles would not have some Spanish evangelical church service somewhere. Even in little rural southern farming areas you will see them announced on billboards.
Another curious thing is, I have always been puzzled to see so many church billboards with Korean writing in So. Md., but have yet to ever meet a Korean around here. Makes me wonder, do the Korean congregants commute over here from No. Virginia to attend church ?? None seem to live around here.

Patuxent Baptist Church, on the corner of 235 and Chancellor's Run (right behind Sheetz), has Spanish services on Sundays at 4:30 pm. They also have Spanish Bible studies on alternating Friday nights at 7 pm. :yay:
ETA: Oops, I didn't notice you wanted it in Waldorf/Charles Co area. But it may still be worth a visit, maybe get networked back up your way.

O.K. - I found the answer myself, by driving by their signboard. The First Baptist Church of St. Charles has Hispanic services and other activities regularly. Spanish Ministry at First Baptist Church of St. Charles, Waldorf, Maryland (http://www.fbcstcharles.com/spanish/index.htm)
I knew that a county with over 100,000 population must have some sort of Hispanic Protestant services - it just stands to reason. Thanks, Dondi, for your other reply.

So are you saying there should be laws against worshiping in other than English? Because, synagogues (even Reform-style ones) worship in Hebrew. All Catholics until the 1960s worshiped mainly in Latin (in fact the church in Benedict, Md. still does). Saint Columba in Fort Wash, MD has masses in Filipino. Many American churches worship in Korean and other languages. Other Catholic churches in Maryland and D.C. have weekly Mass in French, Vietnamese, Haitian, Polish, Italian, (possibly German) and other languages. Would you make all of these illegal?
