It depends on what you do...

It depends on what type of job you are looking for... can you be more specific?

What do you do? Program Manager, Project Assistant, Program Analyst? Admin positions? You're not really giving us much to work with

Again... you are being to vague.... are you talking programming, engineering, networking, data entry, fudiciary... etc.

Again it depends on what you do.

If you are looking for a administrative assistant job...those jobs fill quickly.

If you are a experienced engineer, or IT type. Jobs are easier to find.

Do you have a current clearance? If so that opens up the market more.

Do you have a degree? That opens up more jobs.

High level experienced Electrical Engineers as well.

contractor jobs are doing fine and hiring regularly (for the most part) if you're in the technical fields. if you're not, it depends on what you do and whether or not you have a clearance. the non-clearance admin jobs...don't bother, 1/2 of the town wants those and they're in limited supply.

I'm not trying to be vague, I'm just asking in general. Yes I have a clearance, Yes I have an advanced degree, Yes I have experience...I currently work in DQA and Export, and have several years background in both.

Is that better? :howdy:

Thank you, that's the info I was looking for. Luckily I'm not looking for an admin job, those are in hot demand every place. More like program analyst I guess if I had to put a direct title on it.

Thanks again. Good to know. I will keep my eye out.

Not specific enough to answer your initial question... quality assurance and export are still very vague.. hell somebody does quality assurance on Fruit of the Looms briefs before they are packaged... but that doesn't mean that same person can get a quality assurance job working for SAP... And Jorge exports on a daily basis (as long as he don't get caught...), but that doesn't make him marketable on base.

"currently work in DQA"

Document Quality Assurance...don't think they do that on Fruit of the Loom briefs...I'm just saying. lol

The packaging, maybe, but not the briefs. :huggy:

i think i've seen quite a few of those open (but I'm not sure if they were local or for other locations w/ my company)...if you know the companies out here, just keep an eye on their job websites.

 In all seriousness... you should check out the SOMD.COM sponsors list. Many local IT companies sponsor this site! :yay:

PM me - I might have a run on something. I know of someone (Government) looking for a Quality/Mission Assurance person for document management, updating and other items I am not familiar with. I can check to see if it is still available and route your resume' that way, and let you know when the posting comes out.

Don't mean to threadjack, but the job market here hasn't impressed me that much... possibly because I don't have a govnt background, though. I have a background in PR/nonprofit and haven't been able to find anything.

Jobs are plentiful for Engineers and Programmers... The general job market in the DC/Metro areas is doing significantly better than most other areas in the country...

This area is mostly technical/engineering and program management. Most of the PR/nonprofit stuff is in DC.

Years ago, I had just graduated college, I interviewed with a Non profit in Annapolis. Didn't accept the job because it required frequent travel to DC and at the time I didn't like the idea of the commute. Duh me! I ended up taking a job in McLean, VA and living in Lexington Park...

:howdy:

But that confirms that Non Profits seem to be mostly in DC though.

Thanks for the tip. I kind of figured as much as I've been doing research of the area. I've been finding open positions mostly in DC/Northern VA area (Alexandria to be more specific).

I keep thinking it has to be the market - I've been the Executive Director of a nonprofit in NC for nearly two years now, have a college degree, and can't get an interview to save my life.

I guess persistence is key. :-)
