Hey everyone, I'd love your input on this. Saw this small snake, about 10' long in a bush in the front yard. At first I thought it was a copperhead, but eyes were wrong. I think it is a brown snake. Anyone who knows fur certain, I'd love your input.

:yeahthat: It's way too long and skinny for a copperhead. They're "short and squatty"!!

That's a harmless garter snake. Unless it really is 10 FEET long, then run and run fast.

It is not a copperhead and it is not a garter snake.

It is a completely harmless Northern Brown Snake. Sometimes referred to as DeKay's Snake. Scientific name: Storeria dekayi

They are small snakes, about the thickness of a pencil, and rarely exceeding 12 inches in length. Their diet is primarily earthworms and slugs.

Why is everybody finding all these really cool snakes and I don't
My son found a black snake the other day while riding his bike. I guess I've just been too busy :drama:
