***DUMB WOMAN CAR QUESTION ALERT***

My FIL gave us a set of tires on rims that he only used for about 500 miles for which we have absolutely no use, too big for one vehicle, too small for the other. Now they have been sitting in the back of my hubby's truck for about a year.
Are they still considered good? I was going to give them away but I have no idea if they are still good since they have been outside.
Yes I realize the tires on my vehicle are also outside all the time but I was wondering if it made a difference to the quality if they are on the car vs sitting the the back of a truck.

My hubby says they are probably fine but he is not 100% sure and I do not want to risk the liability that there could be something wrong.

If tires sit for an extended period without use, they can dry rot. Were they covered? Do they have visible cracks on the sidewalls? And if you're giving them away, it doesn't matter what shape they're in..lol

They are probably fine.

If tires sit for an extended period without use,

... with the weight of a vehicle on them, they will get damaged. Sitting in the back of a truck, they should be ok.

Just check them for small cracks. This is due to dry rotting. No cracks, they are fine.
