View Full Version : Women, with children, going through divorce?

I'm in this situation. I haven't been married long, but we have a young child, and we've decided to divorce. I don't have any family in the area, only in-laws, so my support network isn't as strong as his.
Although I know I'm not alone, I certainly feel that way. I'd like to meet women who feel this way too, and who would like to become friends and help each other through this kind of ordeal.
Are any other women here in the same boat as me? Would you like to get together every now and then for support?
I posted this in "The Ladies Room" also but realized this may be a better forum for my questions.

Why do you feel you have lost your support network? You are divorcing a spouse, not the grandparents.

I'm pretty far down the road, since I've been separated for several years, but would be happy to talk with you. PM and we can discuss.

I had the same thought. Ex-daughter-in-law or not I would be willing to help the mother of my grandchild.
What kind of support/help are you looking for?

What if you put all this effort into working it out with your husband/father of your child?
Is he sooooo bad that he just won't do? Or are you sooooo bad that you just won't do for him?
Why not work it out? Especially if y'all are new at this?

It's a euphemism for a similar sounding religious expression.

Hello All:
I didn't think my post would get this much of a response. I should elaborate.
We did try to work it out, numerous times. There was infidelity on his part (2 yrs ago while I was pregnant). There was a major lack of affection (my doing) and respect (his doing). Two months ago I had finally gotten him to agree to marriage counseling, and after only two sessions he wanted to quit. I tried suggesting a religous retreat, and he declined. He said he didn't think we should be together, and that the issues we had were beyond repair.
So sure, it's all about me, and my total disregard for the sanctity of marriage :-P
My in-laws have been nice enough, but if we go into details about how I'm feeling they would rather not hear about it. They'll always be there for my daughter, for that I am lucky I can count on.
Thank you for those of you that sent a PM. I really do appreciate the response! I've replied today to all, and hope to keep in contact.

I'm kind of happy I don't have any kids right now. I have a good marriage, but if something did happen I would be in a similar situation as the poster.

I am curious, how long did you date b4 getting married, did you shack up 1st ... were both financially stable b4 getting married .... how soon did the kid come along after you got married, and finally how old are you ?
sounds like he cheated on you, so you withdrew ........... and he lost respect for you because you were so distant ....
so yeah why stick around with someone who is not affectionate
I feel sorry for the kid
