I got my child a brand new Scooby Doo Mystery Machine lunch box, looking to pack some fun lunches, what are some ideas that you have done in the past? Which ones were a hit and which ones failed?

:yeahthat: And C_Jo loves when I put his sammich in the pink container with the heart on the outside. Especially when he pulls it out during a lunch meeting with other fellas.

That is a good idea. My son loves anything that has pepperoni on or in it.

I once picked up a 3 foot black snake and put it in my lunch bag. Took it back to the shop and set it on my super's desk so I could take it home after work.
He looked inside.
That went over real good

Walmart had a great sandwich cutter: makes two dinosaurs and didn't waste much. I love making "homemade" trail mix: some popcorn, chocolate chips, M&M's, peanuts, raisins, etc. And you can vary it day by day.

Homemade peanut butter crackers went over well too.

And don't forget the napkin that has "I WUV U" written in bright red marker with a great big kiss in bright red lipstick on it!

My two youngest are both in high school and I still make their lunches. Spoiled!!!!

I rather make their lunches till they are older like when they can get a job and buy their own. On fridays i'll let them buy lunch or get them something special. Other then that its brown bag'n it! My kids love pb and j all the way!

I like the once a week idea that they can buy lunch. Or maybe let them pick from there favorite meal of the week and they can buy lunch on that day. Seems like the school lunches are so high in Carbs. and for mine it seems to make them gain a little weight. They spend all summer running around and burning everything off. Then go back to school and sit most of the day. This is the first year I'm trying to pack lunch everyday.

Family Dollar in Leonardtown had some with characters when I stoped in there today at lunch time - I think there's one of them in the park

Anytime :yum:

I went with pretzel kabobs and as an added bonus, since I thought Teddy Grahams were too cute/babyish I picked off their heads from their bodies, used red icing gel for the blood and called them "Decapitated Zombie Bears". They were choc chips ones so they has the "rotting flesh" virus.... it was a hit. I think next time I'll just use the bodies and save the heads for a snack when he gets home

We let our daughter buy lunch once a week. She looks at the menu for the following week and picks what day she is buying. I cannot believe ES lunches are $2.25. They also don't sound that great either at least the PES menu. Hopefully it gets better as the year goes on. Last year at Park Hall they had all sorts of things.

Anyway, I roll some sweet bologna and put some cream cheese in the middle. Sometimes she wants ham and mustard rolls. I also cut up cheese for her. She also likes banana hoagies. I put PB on a hot dog bun and put half a banana in it. That is a huge hit as well. Rachel Ray had great ideas for kids lunches on her talkshow last summer.

Today's lunch, I got creative....
chopped up leftover grilled chicken, penne pasta, ranch dressing, and shredded munster cheese, a banana, a peanut butter chip granola bar and capri sun. I tried the pasta (sans chicken) before I served it.... it's a hit :yay:

I took your idea about letting my son buy lunch once a week-thanks! And you're right, the PES lunches look like nothing but "junk".
