I've lived in Lusby almost 3 years and I miss my friends in Edgewater. I need another couple to hang out with. Ok, so here's the deal, my husband and I are each 32 years old, we have an 8 year old boy and a 3 year old boy. Hubby loves to fish, drink beer and ride his Harley, I like to read, watch movies, play cards, do mommy stuff and watch the Redskins ..... If you & hubby+ kids, have similar interest and you live near by, maybe we could hang out… have pot luck Redskin Sunday parties..... go to the park with the kids... hang out, have a few beers and let the kids run around, what ever...

P.S.- No swingers and no crazy religious couples who want to convert us….

Get your 8 y.o. involved with Cub Scouts. You'll meet lots of parents with kids the same age that way. I can put you in contact with a Pack in your area if you want.

I don't need any new friends but who's your 8 yr old's teacher? Our kids may know eachother.

Actually we did that last year, our son loves it, but hubby goes to the meetings and he's not an outgoing kind of guy around strangers. Give him a fishing rod by the water he'd be way more confortable then in a room with a bunch of loud kids and a few parents.

I feel your pain. We moved here last May and I am finding out that people are not as nice as what I am used to. It's strange to say that bc we are from PA and I thought people were ruder there. The people I meet around here don't parent their kids how we do, they won't talk much, and may not be people we would be comfortable around. Ok I'll call it like it is...ready....they're ghetto, snobby/cliquey, or racist red neck. (my husband is black I'm not and the looks say it all)

Our 8 yr. old daughter has been involved in activities and the kids act like the parents. (not surprising) She is used to being around older kids and actually likes playing with boys. (I'm going to be in trouble) We are friendly but not fake friendly so I'm not sure what the issue is. Before anyone on here says it is us, let me just say we've never had problems before 'making friends". Our daughter is very outgoing and nice. We'll talk to anyone who wants to have a conversation. I know it isn't us...

This made me laugh. (disgustingly) If most the people around here have this attitude this could be why transplants like our family have problems meeting people.

I'm sorry you're having trouble making friends. I moved here almost 4 years ago and find most everybody friendlier than they were in VA. Good luck!

It probably doesn’t help that both my husband and myself both work an hour and a half from home. So socializing with co-workers is pretty much out except on weekends and frankly when I get home on Friday, I’m not too interested in driving more then a few miles for any reason. 3 hours M-F is enough for both of us.

Well I’m not one to judge but your picture and user name are leading me to believe we may not be the best fit. I’m looking for a friend not a funeral. No offence intended.

No wonder you have no friends, you are too picky  You should see my girlfriend, she's hot.

Yes, most are friendly when were out somewhere like the park. Sometimes, the people at my daughter's activities are nice but already have their "group" and that is it. I would feel weird saying, "hey, I know we only talked a couple times for like 2 minutes but do you want to hang out?" I think I am going to join a moms group until I get licensed for home child care. Hopefully, it will get better over time.

For a decent job I'd drive further than that.

Not going contractor because I have 14 years in with the Govt. The commute sucks, but I'm used to it and living where we do, we have family and friends close by.

I’ve looked locally but haven’t found anything. I’d love a job on base but I’d have to start at entry level, since I’m been in banking most of my working career. But I can’t even find anything at that level. Any idea’s welcome.

How about starting a 30 Something Redskin's fan group. You know for the working stiffs who have kids, like beer & the skins and can't get to the games....

What part of "banking" were you in?

Good with numbers? Finance and accounting?

Degree or no??

Apparently nothing fits me around here because I'm not an IT guy or engineer.:yahoo:
