Call and complain. I bet if you do the speed test to their servers you will get full speed. They have their ups and downs. You will go 6 months without issues, and out of no where bam you get hit.

Oh that's great.... one of the only ways I can get internet right now, they're coming out on Saturday. We can get it through direct tv but they said to use them as a last resort because its actually as fast as dial up.

Hey man. Let us know what you find out (suggestions or comments). There are some people out there with the same problem.
(I currently have not issues....but I know some people that do...just a nice to know).
I don't think I've ever seen my internet up to it's full potential. Most I've gotten is 5 mbps and it usually averages 3 mbps.

We just switched over to Metrocast. I've had a few problems, but they have resolved themselves within minutes. Much better than Verizon so far.

:yay:
At first, there's problems, but once you call the Metrocast to get it fix, and the problems goes away. I haven't had any problem for over a year now. Am very happy with Metrocast Internet and cable TV.

Last night (about 11pm) I could only get 1.5meg on our 7 meg service.
At about 5pm the same day it was better but still only about 3.5 meg. Where the eff is the other half of the service?!

No, If there is a really bad thunderstorm it will slow down quite a bit but once the storm passes it is back to normal.

We're down south.. Dameron/Ridge..
We were having speed and connection problems about a year ago, and they came in and changed every single connector between the modem and the box. The installer used the wrong connectors, and we were suffering a LOT of signal loss from the street to the house.

I would bet it's not at your house, and it's not at Metrocast.. but probably within WildeWood. They've had cable and cable internet there a long time.. I'm sure they didn't use the most expensive connectors in the world during the initial install.. There's probably corrosion, rust, and a multitude of other issues from the street to the house.. and by street I mean where the cable enters Wildewood.

It has to be something because Chess is near me in WW and I have the 7meg also and im having a TON of issues with it. My Verizon DSL was worlds better than this. I paid for 1.5meg and got 1.5 and the service was never interupted. For Metrocast we pay for 7meg but only get 1.5meg and I have to reset the router/modem like twice a day. Trying to share 1.5 on 4 PCs SUCKS.

That's EXACTLY the issues we were having here.. Slow speeds and constantaly having to reset the modem.
Haven't had to reset the modem since they changed out all of the connectors.

Chess you ever get your stuff working?
Mine is even worse now, After resetting the modem and router I only get a ok connection for about 1-3 minutes before I cannot even get google to load.
After that just about nothing works as far as browsing the net goes. Games have SUPER high ping (300-850) and DLs from Steam are really slow.

Might just be a poor connection in the house. IDK im still testing some things out before I ##### out MC.
Ive tried different PCs, different hubs, routers, wireless, wired, different cables and nothing seems to make this net work for more than a few minutes before it craps out.
Sucks because my friend that lives in the park has the same 7meg service and my PC didnt have one issue working on his net. Went home and once again I had crap service.
I just fear calling MC because I know they are going to walk me through some BS troubleshooting before they get a tech to the house to check the signals and all. Really not looking forward to spending hours on the phone with them.

Speed wise its a little better (1-3meg) but I keep getting timeouts and connection errors.
If I reset the Modem and router it works ok for about 1-5 minutes then it goes back to timeouts and connection issues.
When I do the metrocast speedtest most of the time I have to refresh the page about 5 times before the test is able to load so I can click start.

I'll have to say, I was getting terrible service from GMP. When Metrocast came around everything seemed to be a lot better. It really has been pretty much flawless until the last month or so. I always got my full 7/.5 (6/.25 before, etc etc) with no problem. Few weeks back my internet just stopped working. Called up tech support and the tech said they had upgraded their system the night before and after about an hour of work on their end (they got my callback number and disconnected me as they worked on the problem) I was back to normal. Once in a while my speed will drop to .5/.5 - 1.5/.5 for extended periods. 3-5/.5 is the average now compared to constant 7/.5 for a long time prior. I'm not getting any packet loss so I donno what's up. Tonight is an example of a bad night.
All I know is it stinks! I'm looking forward to getting back the Metrocast I've been paying for since they came around. :)

11-08-2009, 03:03 PM
After having Metrocast for 2 and a half years, I had called and complained several times about the internet speed and got no results. So I finally had to take my money elsewhere and now have Verizon DSL. I'm a gamer so I am all about speed and was worried that going to DSL was going to comprimise my gaming ability. And while my ping times did go up a bit, I haven't been impacted all that much.
I'd rather have the 6 and 7 MB connection, but if I am going to pay for it, give me that speed.
And no this isn't a you should switch to DSL post because I know not everyone can get DSL and 2 I know people are loyal to Metrocast. I'm just telling my story when it came to my issues with Metrocast's internet connection.
