I've been wanting to get a GPS unit for my care but can't decide on which model to buy. I have tried a Garmin nuvi 1300t which seems pretty nice but I was hoping to hear feedback from other folks on their experiences with different models.
Thanks.

Every time I've been on a ride lead by someone with a GPS, we've gotten lost and taken bad routes.
Learn to read and use a map, tell your friends you got a cellulose navigation system

I think the biggest going for Garmin is support and extras.. I was at Best Buy looking (I wanted one for tomorrow) and noticed on the wall they had Europe Map Pack.. Marine Maps, Lakes.. Trail.. Hiking, Horse riding and off road..
They all cost a little extra (most were $9.99 Europe was $99.99), and you can go online and download even more.
You have to keep your maps updated. I did a quick search tonight and it still shows Raleys as a gas station, I sent an error report to Garmin.
I rented a GPS in CA last week, and I got caught in traffic from hell.. went to the GPS set it to avoid Highways, took off from the interstate and was back at the hotel in about 20 minutes.. EXACTLY what I wanted it to do.
We bought the 1300T.. mid range in price, the biggest thing it's missing is Blue Tooth to synch your phone, and no XM capablitiy. Other than those two minor items (for me) it's fully upgradeable, SD Card slot.. FM Traffic alerts..
Can't use this one on the bike, at least not in the rain, but the one I want for the bike is $700, not going to happen.
But remeber, GPS can not be any smarter than the person using it.
I have a Garmin Zumo 550.

I have a Garmin Zumo 550.
Not sure I saw any Zumos at Best Buy unless they were the ones over $400.. Didn't even look at those.
The ONE thing BMW and Harley have in common, they both sell the same GPS with their branding.. $700-850

Stay away from the Tom Tom. I have two and thank goodness I purchased the extended warranty on them from Best Buy. because I have taken them both back twice, due to failures.
Another thing I'm not too keen on is the fact that Tom Tom is not a US based company.
My next will be Garmin. I've heard a lot of good things about their products.
