Anyone out there have mad BlackBerry Enterprise Server Skills?

We tried BES 5.0 (upgrading from 4.1) on the 90 day trial. Decided it wasn't worth buying new CALs right now. SO I removed 5.0, cleared the database and recreated, reinstalled 4.1, and added our users back in. Initially had a problem as the BB software had updated for 5.0, so I had to wipe all the handhelds and reactivate them. I have one user who is stuck on 'initializing' and the rest are fine.

WTF! I have tried deleting and re-adding his account, set him to a static mail agent and had him try activating, everything I can think of.

His account status just stays 'blank', so to speak, none of the properties change so I don't think it's a super slow initialize. It isn't even picking up his HH pin. He gets the 'retrying' message when trying to activate from the HH. I'd try to activate him locally over the USB port, but he's on the road in PA right now.

Permissions check out, SRP checks out, BBrouter is fine... Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Have you tried doing a hard reset on the handheld?

You may also have to physically reload the handheld software via the desktop manager.

I think it was the FIRST thing I tried, LOL. When in doubt, reboot (or the equivalent). A wipe (similar to a master reset) pretty much does the same thing anyway, so effectively did it twice... I've tried probably everything you'll find Googling the issue, looked at some technet arties, heck I've even tried a couple registry hacks to kickstart it.... nope!

Burn all the BlackBerries!

Thanks though!

Ok, so can you activate his account on a different handheld? That would point at either the server or the handheld .

I have been able to remove and add others... so.... I think it's the handheld. But I can't be absolutely sure till I can DC it via USB to the server or a workstation w/ BES manager and try direct activation. Since it's not even picking up the HH pin, it may be that there is a problem with the encrypted key file that gets sent with the activation request... I just have no way of really knowing.

See, I had hoped you or someone else would respond with "oh I just had that happen last week and we had to....".

Solved!

I had the user restart activation and simulaneously hacked the HH's pin into the registry and it too. Wierd... but whatever!

Ok, that is weird...

I only work on the handheld side, there's a whole 'nother group for the servers.
