ESPN/ABC mentioned on the NASCAR broadcast that JJ was speeding on pit road. Watched it back several times... he passed several cars before slamming the brakes where the speed traps are.
The excuse from ESPN/ABC is that it's okay because he didn't get caught.
Now, NASCAR could have penalized JJ for speeding, but there's a bigger issue here. Once again, Jimmie and Chad have found a gray area in NASCAR's rulebook.
The question is, how long does it take NASCAR to fill this hole in their rulebook?

If they are caught and if they are not fined, if they are not penalized in any way, then they must NOT have been cheating.

Exactly.
Jimmie and Chad exposed another gray area. Until NASCAR closes the loophole, it's fair game.

As the timing is from point to point do you think that there be say 45 points of measurement (entry, each pit, and exit). The fact that Johnson knows where the current points are and uses them to his advantage is nothing more then being competitive. Nothing stops others from doing the same.

:yeahthat: Chad Knaus is a genius - not a cheat. Tell me another sport where competitors don't try to come up with creative ways to push the envelope.

Anyone who thinks Chad and Jimmie push the envelope too much should look up Smokey Yunick. :killingme:killingme:killingme:killingme:killingme
Jimmie's the three time and defending Cup champion for a reason.

That is very accurate. Chad Knaus takes an extremely detailed look at the entire pit road area before each race. He maps out the best pit location and the location of all the timing points and if they don't win the pole he figures who it is best not to pit between. You can't fault the man for doing exactly what they pay him for. I guess genius applies, but it is mostly being meticulous in his planning and analysis of all the variables.

Go to Hickory Speedway or Bowman Gray Stadium one weekend. You'll see what REAL racing looks like. Come back to me once you've been to a short track! :buddies:

I'm surprised NASCAR's not changing this pit road timing stuff.
We all know what would've happened if it was Robby Gordon or Juan Pablo Montoya playing in this gray area.
